it sure seems that we need to groom him at Linebacker.

The kid has been a DE all his life, he's NEVER played LB before.
Knowing that, where do you really think he'd be wasted more? Spending a year learning how to play LB to see if he's good at it or stepping in and being an effective DE?

Miles has said he likes him at both positions..... So wherever we need him most we should put him there. Just put him on the damn field.

He played LB in high school all 4 years.

Chavis doesn't like LB's that big. He will gain at least 10 lbs or more in the next several years and be 260.....too big for Chavis.

He has the physique to be a big-time MLB. We need that kind of presence at MLB this year.

The funniest thing about this is you think you're 100% correct

Agreed, but I knew Melvin Jones or Kendall Beckwith wouldn't play much at LB when they weighed in during fall camp at 246lbs. They are Bama sized and not LSU sized.
KeKe Mingo had a LB physique as well, but thats not the position he played at LSU.

this is not true. he played MLB in high school. Now, with that said, he did not play linebacker very well, in the game I saw, anyway.
He was consistently blocked by players 45lbs lighter than him in the Notre Dame game. DE is his position in college.

Minter was 6'0" 245. Sheppard was 6'2" 250.

Beckwith might be the most talented player LSU has defensively besides Anthony Johnson, and the kid sees just a handful of snaps.
But let's make sure we get Tajh Jones in there!

Has he been wasted this year, yes he has. This is a wasted year, but I understand fully the redshirt deal and how more than likely we won't have the players for more than 3 years regardless.

Of course, so simplify the teaching.
Instead of throwing the entire playbook at him, teach him a few plays and get him on the field more.
That's my problem
