No, but if his stock is going to be as high then as it is now then it means he's still probably got Ole Miss heading to the playoffs. So unless the NCAA changed their calendar, then he'd still be taking a new job right before an Ole Miss playoff appearance.

And if Ole Miss isn't making the playoffs at that time, he's not going to be as in-demand elsewhere.

This year was the perfect situation of him being the hottest commodity when multiple big jobs were open at the same time. He won't have that level of negotiating leverage again if he waits for a future cycle and there's fewer big openings with more big name candidates on the market.

And Kiffin probably realizes that if someone like Coach O can win a natty here, Lane has potential to create a dynasty.

Rece wanted Kiffin at Bama. He is scared to death at what Kiffin is about to do at LSU.

Rece is a Bama Homer. He always tries to downplay and belittle LSU.

And with the current rules that job would have come up in the same situation, so he's being a bitch because it's LSU

Football guys view LSU as a better job than media members. This is what media members don’t get or don’t want to accept. To most of them, Notre Dame is a top 5 job and they couldn’t fathom LSU poaching the sitting ND HC who was on the precipice of the playoff from that school.

They view podunk arse Ole Miss (I don’t view them as such, but you can’t help but notice the air of superiority many media members have when discussing the Deep South schools not named Bama and Georgia) and coonass LSU as identical; State schools in predominantly red states that have historically ranked at the bottom of education and every other meaningful quality of life measure.

The national media views LSU and Ole Miss as beneath the big ten and they can’t stand that one school may not be as stupid and backwards as they think.

Will we get this same lament after half of everyone’s roster goes into the portal in 3 weeks looking for more money and better opportunities?

Also Greg McElroy, who in my view, unlike Davis and Finebaum, don't shill for Bam

He doesn't, even during games.

What sucks is that one of these three would destroy LSU football (again) tomorrow over his fricked up politics if he could.

I still don't quite understand what the media is so fricking up in arms about. Lane made it clear that he wanted to continue coaching at OM through the playoffs. OM said no, which they felt like was best for them. Wtf was Kiffin supposed to do? Refuse to leave and scew over the school even more?

Everyone is pissed but at the wrong things. College football needs some better rules/fail stops in place similar to NFL to prevent this free for all that NIL and transfer portal have created. Get rid of early signing periods, early transfer portal window, etc. and you can have coaches ride it out with their teams until year end like NFL.

I thought Rece knew college football.

Does he realize that since 2000, LSU has won three national championships in football, while Ole Miss has won none?

Would Rece have passed up a pay increase to stay at College Game Day for Fox?
