Man lots of talk here and he still leads the team in almost every offensive stat we have.
We wouldn't be in Omaha without Jones. Crazy shite to hear all these keyboard warriors.

Simple solution… stop bending backwards before a pitch, step up closer to the plate to protect the outside part, stop dipping or dropping your right shoulder, stop trying to pull an outside pitch to left field, if the 1st pitch is there, knock the frick out of it.. nothing says you have to take the 1st pitch right down the middle of the plate every at bat…

When you walk a Freshman to get to Jones with 2 outs and runners on, there is a bigger problem vs a slump

He doesn't need to take BP of the machine, he needs to take BP off of someone throwing hard sliders.

Sorry Hunt but I dont wanna hear anything else from you... tries so hard to be objective and not a homer I can't remember the last time he picked LSU in big game
Picked LSU to win the super in 2 games last week! Will pick LSU to win tomorrow!
And I don't know anyone else in the local media who embraces the homer label more than me.
I do sometimes pick against LSU if I think the other team is going to win.

He needs to quit the back bending crap and take more pitches.
Everyone always says “take more pitches.” In a lot of cases it’s a bad idea. For instance, I can’t remember the last time Jones swung at the first pitch. Everyone knows this so they pump in a fastball and he stares at it. Then they throw some breaking balls and he strikes out. If he gets lucky he gets a pop fly.
Jones should do one of two things at this point. Either swing at everything and hope for a hit, or don’t swing at all and hope for a walk.

You’d bet money on LSU even if you thought they would lose?
That doesn’t make you a good fan, it makes you retarded and irresponsible

Do you want me to be frickin retarded?

It’s your money. I don’t care what you do buddy. Good luck to you

Same approach he’s had all year nothing has changed. Same stance and swing up and try to pull everything.
Posted on 6/15/25 at 4:26 pm to Yaboylsu63
I didn’t see him doing the back bend in that video.
Posted on 6/15/25 at 4:39 pm to Yaboylsu63
He needs to face a live arm that can mix in an off speed pitch. Regular BP isn’t going to help much at this point. But I appreciate the effort! Would love to see him catch fire.

IIRC JJ introduced the back bend to Bear either last year or year before to get him more relaxed in the box. Most all hitters in the history of baseball have had the painful experience of a slump. Trust JJ is coaching him up!

quote:Well I would hope so after that performance. That doesn’t shock me one bit, he’s played terrible and he’s got high quality character. No way he’s not going to do everything in his power to right wrongs and put it on his own shoulders to do all he can to make sure he does everything possible to ensure we get a win tomorrow
LSU’s team has loaded the busses from practice. Only Jared Jones remains on the field.

Yea those are silly but when you are facing elite velocity and movement, you want a simple approach. His stance starts him in extension with his arms a large distance from his body and he has to move to flexion changing his head position and therefore his vision. This is not a good approach for high velocity. Since he’s worried about the sliders, he’s behind on most fastballs he should be hitting hard. It doesn’t take a hitting coach to see that a more simple approach would be better. Crews did something similar but he is a better mover with quicker reaction than Jones. Crews has since abandoned that approach in the majors and opted for something more simple.
Crews Homerun

It isn't a slump.
You have no clue what you're talking about.
Jones' rankings on the favorite to win the cws...
3rd in batting average(of players with real abs)
2nd in ops
1st in hrs
2nd in doubles
1st in total bases

Nothing he is doing is new. What he is doing has resulted in the one of the best hitters on the team with the best odds to win a national title. He is in a slump. The only way to get out of it is at bats. Baseball is literally a game of streaks. Over the course of the season Jones' slumps haven't been that long or he wouldn't have had the season he has had.
