Oh, NOW you guys want to talk about what happened on the field since it turned out in your favor this time. Well, what happened on the field in your home stadium when you had 90/10 split? And you couldn't win in OT? You can't get fired up for the biggest game in BDS in awhile?
BTW, this IS the first time a team has won the CFBNC WITHOUT winning their division or conference.
Besides, one win and one loss is still 1-1, no matter what the score.
Y'all beat us fair and square the first time.
We silenced the non-bias critics with the second game.

Seriously? It's factually 1-1. We split the season. LSU played a tougher schedule and one extra game against a conference opponent.
I'll give Bama the performance last night, but how can you say that honestly, if the game was played 10 times, it wouldn't be 5-5.
I think LSU-Bama are #1 and #1a this year. Just MHO.
I'll give it a rest for a week till y'all have a chance to cool down and think rationally.

Y'all should put that resume in the empty spot in your trophy case.
I'd understand if it were close... but come on, take it like a man.
I agree with you. This LSU team will go down in history with the 2007 Patriots. They had the best regular season in the history of pro football and this LSU team had arguably the best regular season resume in the history of college football. So close but so far. As I said earlier, Florida State fans felt the same way after their rematch with Florida in 1997 Sugar Bowl. The only difference is that, unlike Miles who welcomed a rematch, Bobby Bowden bellyached about the rematch for a whole month before the game.

You're just kidding yourself. The Crystal Football was the most important thing to every LSU fan on this board.

You know, if OSU had made it over Bama, and LSU handled OSU, Bama would call themselves #1 anyways, because they "should have won" the first game.

No AQ qualifiers. Top 6 of the BCS

If the AP had give LSU #1, many would be happy.

That is possibly the most ignorant thing I have read today.

No they wouldn't and you know it.

LSU could have just taken a dive in the SECCG and Bama would have been out. Period.
LSU to BCSCG and UGA to Sugar.
Thats how the pro's would play it out....don't have to play best opponent again.
Bama got in as a guest from LSU's win.

Sounds good but the playoff scenario you're stumping for (with more teams) actually INCREASES the likelihood of a non-conference-champ winning the BCS, so I don't fully understand where the original poster is coming from. It's a pretty long stretch to assume that OSU would've beaten Bama and LSU would've beaten Stanford and OSU.
I've got a lot of sympathy for LSU in this situation but most coaches end up saying winning a NC always requires a little luck. Unfortunately with the poll-system, that's the ugly part. OSU lost. Stanford lost. That all equaled bad luck for LSU.
We had luck getting in to the game, but we DID get in. It's always been my feeling that once you lose a game you lose your ability to "demand" entrance. I think we were the 2nd best team but I'm biased and wouldn't have complained if OSU got our spot. They didn't and unfortunately for LSU you can't win a NC in the regular season.
I disagree with the 1-1 "split" argument on 2 fronts. First, we use a poll system in college football which means (unfortunately) it's a beauty contest and the two wins weren't really close in terms of "beauty". Second, it just seems like common sense that a National Championship game would have more relevance than a regular season game, especially in terms of the NC. We won emphatically and on the biggest stage. That counts for something.

I believe the two best teams played last night and if we were the better team we should have beaten Alabama twice.
We were unprepared and out coached. So what we won the first game, we lost this one. Alabama came out to play and dominated.
Congrats to your victory in the BCS this season and I look forward to completely raping you next season.

1) I'm not for a playoff. I don't really care for the system we have now. I'm old school....a bowl game as a reward for good season and athletes get goodies (they DESERVE them) not as entertainment devices but as real college kids. frick the media.
frick the money, emphasize education somehow instead of making kids dream of pro football. Mostly smoke and mirrors.
2) What does it matter that LSU won in the regular season? None. Not a bit. Bama could have lost to Ole Miss or Georgia Southern and OSU would be LSU's opponent. Think on this.
3) And there's no fricken way people are gonna travel to fricken Iowa in December to watch a quarter finals BCS game. Semifinals better be free or I'm watching it on TV.

One thing will happen in a +1 is we're going to see a lot more rematches. In 09' we would have had to play UF right after the SECCG again. They may have had to play us again in 08'. I think if we do have a +1 we have to get rid of the SECCG. Because, either we knock each other out of the top 4 or we have to play each other again. That's a nightmare scenario for the SEC either way.

Bama was the much better team last night with a way better game plan. Congrats. Take your win and please GTFO and go back to your own boards.
On the BCS, its become very obvious that ESPN pimping Bama for the BCS CG from the end of the 11/5 game was done specifically to give a result that most would not want (LSU/Gama rematch) and to use that discontent to force a redo of the BCS formula. Make no mistkate - guys like the Big 10 Comish have been trying to get everyone together for a redo meeting on the BCS formula for years. Is it really a shocker that the Big 10 heavy crew at ESPN would go along? Bad ratings for one game was a small price to pay for them to get a shot at redoing the BCS formula more to their liking.

The charge of the BCS is to pair the two best teams.
I can't find the link atm, but I'm pretty sure the Executive Director of the BCS is on record somewhere as saying their job is to match-up the two "most deserving" not the two "best"... Those two things are very different imo.
this, BCS sends the 2 highest ranked teams in the system, not the best 2....

We shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. We were sleepwalking because the team wasn't excited about playing a team they already gave their all to beat. Bama wanted revenge, LSU just wanted a new opponent.
I said we had a psychological edge coming and it was completely dissed by you LSU folks. I bet if I looked back even you said it was all BS this talk of the loser having an edge in the rematch.
I agree, I think it sucked for LSU to have to play us again. Because I think of the reverse situation and it would have sucked for us to play you again if we'd won the first one.

Bingo
The two highest ranked
The BCS was manipulated by Espn with their "better loss argument". When in fact OSU had the better resume or "body of work". Espn benefited from the all SEC rematch....and obviously so did bammer.

So, based on these arguments LSU should return the BCS trophy from 2007???
