However, at the moment, they trail both Virginia Tech and Stanford in the polls. I don't think it's likely OSU would catch Alabama if they have to jump both of those teams without them losing. Therefore, a rematch between LSU and Alabama is the current projection.

and they have already been wrong in their projections this season...

Worst case scenario right now for Alabama.. SEC goes 0-4 through the following games next week.
Vandy plays Wake Forest
Florida plays FSU
South Carolina plays Clemson
Georgia plays GT
All of those teams are in the ACC, huge boost to VTs computer points and will drop the SEC contenders points. Virginia Tech then goes and beats #14 Clemson (who beat both Auburn and South Carolina) and wins the ACC with Alabama idle.
That's a worst possible scenario. Won't happen. I think Vandy takes down WF and the SEC splits (or better) those OOC games.

It's totally bullshite that we have to earn the right to the BCSNCG by beating UGA in two weeks and all Bama has to do is sit on their arse at home to do it.

This times a million. This system is shite. The fact that bama gets a rematch makes this system shite.

I agree that it sucks but it's reality. Look at it this way.. if LSU goes unscathed and 14-0, this team is a top-three GOAT.

I thought I made it clear we DIDN'T have to beat Georgia in the SECCG?

..whereas Bama doesn't have to play anyone to potentially get the shot.

This is true. I worry about injuries more than anything

Because a re-match would be impossible in a playoff?

WOW. A GREAT TEAM?? YES. But not top three all-time.
In the modern era of college football, absolutely. If, and that's a giant if, LSU goes 14-0 show me ONE team with a better resume. Maybe a top-5 team.. I'll budge a little.
This team would be up there with '01 Miami without a doubt. A roster loaded with NFL talent too.

I think it'll be Va Tech or Stanford or OK State (not necessarily in that order) before it's Alabama. No way Alabama goes if we win out.

Stanford is done I think. Oklahoma St and Virginia Tech have a punchers chance.

1. Unless Stanford sneaks into the Pac12 CG, they are done
2. Va Tech needs some help I think as their computer score is very weak. The made need a 4-0 sweep of the ACC over the SEC next week
3. I think people underestimate Ok State's computer strength

OK State would be third on that list, because of their lack of a CCG. But, if VA Tech wins out and so does Stanford (with help to get to their CCG), then both of those schools will be in the MNC before a second place division team.
The voters will very simply not allow Team A to play a CCG and then have Team B, who was defeated by Team A, sit idle and then reward them with a berth in the championship game.
The ONLY arguement Bama could make is that two years straight, UF and LSU had to play a CCG while Ohio State sat idle and still made the MNC. The arguement against that could be exactly what happened to Ohio State in those games.

The computers have oklahoma State as one of the toughest schedules in the country.
Matt, beyond the computers, do you think some voters are going to discount OSU's one bad loss because the game was played right after the school's tragedy? I'm not so sure Bama will get picked over OSU because of OSU losing to Iowa State.

Is the current system a playoff? Remember, the regular season matters in CFB.

I think I'm underestimating the human voters if anything. Okie St will sit at #5 after the BCS rankings are released, from what I can gather.
LSU beats Arkansas
Virginia Tech loses to Virginia or Clemson
Oklahoma St beats OU, moves to #3
I think that the SEC vs ACC match ups are important for Oklahoma St too.

Your post suggest the current system is crap because it allows for a rematch and that perhaps another system (e.g. a playoff) would be better. Yet, playoff systems are MORE amenable to rematches.
