Pretty cool event, but some things could be executed much better from the event management standpoint. Just very unorganized and need to generate more fan excitement during the event. I'm sure it'll only get better as it grows from year to year.

Agreed. The skills competition portion was useless, and the 3 pt competition was way too large of a field and it took forever. Also, it seemed like the audio on Ponamsky's mic was turned up entirely too loud.

I was impressed by the president's shooting in the 3 pt competition though.

Hard to take anything from the 'scrimmage'. Defense was pretty much nonexistent -- CJJ said he didn't want to risk injury.

That seems a bit curious to me.

Yep. It had the potential to be a great event because they had a nice crowd in the PMAC but whoever was in charge of the microphone levels for the MC's did a horrible job. Mics were way too loud. There was a DJ there who played good music leading up to the announcement of the players and during the contests, but he struggled also with his volumes.
They did have 2 young students who won $1000 in a shooting contest where you can shoot a layup for 1 point, a free throw for 3 points or a three pointer for 5 points and these two dudes were so bad that they just shot layups and won against 3 other teams. That was some funny stuff to watch right there. Other things I noticed is like a previous poster stated, is that Hornsby has a very awkward looking shot, but he is a very good shooter. He made 7 straight shots during the 3 point contest. He probably has a 40 inch vertical also.

Thanks for the report. Any news on why no Elbert? Hopefully just precautionary.

Did you get a look at Patterson? Grey?

Maybe it was because my expectations were low(er), but I was impressed with Epps. The fact that he shoots out in front of his face (almost falling forward) is gonna bug the shite out of me, but watching him in both the 3 pt shootout and the dunk contest it's obvious that he has potential. Wouldn't surprise me if he's 2nd off the bench very early in the year.

I didn't hear what in particular kept Elbert from playing, but I heard he's fine.

Honestly I didn't pay much attention to Patterson and Grey. I think they both were in the 3 point contest, but that's all I could tell you.

Agreed with brob on Epps.

CP3, I didn't see Hornsby's dad, but he may have been there somewhere.

I wonder what the Kentucky fans who attended thought about our event.

I wonder if that is why he didn't have them play defense, since anyone could get in. He didn't want to give a early scouting report to anyone.
