Will be cool to not have to absolutely play 'lights out' and still beat some good teams.

Makes for a fun season...

Lots of new players means it will take time to gel into a good team. I think WW gets that done but not until Feb-March, IMO. We will lose some games we shouldn't early, IMO.

I am really looking forward to this coming season in MBB.

That's part of the reason I was disappointed with the home OOC schedule.

With home games counting less torwards rpi I can see why Wade didnt have them as the priority. With st marys, memphis, houston, and that tourny all being away from home I think that is what he was looking at.

Last year we had problems with guys falling apart so to speak when momentem went the other way. Rachel was one of the only guys who played tough in those situations, from Wade himself. I also think he could be a pleasant surprise this year. If nothing else he might see the floor if we are playing flat.

I get that, and I understand what he said about manipulating the rpi. Selfishly, I just want one or two big name ooc teams at home. I'll be over it by the time the season starts though.

He’s probably the only true “3” we have on this roster.

Marlon Taylor is going to get a lot of PT at the 3.

6'7", can jump out the gym, 44% from 3, 80% from the FT line, averaged 17/10 in JUCO.

Kid has a legit 42' vert and a great stroke.

206.

Its one of the sections right outside the middle court level thats too expensive. Im at the free throw line and its so much cheaper than mid court. I've had them since I graduated college and I never plan on losing them.

Marlon Taylor is the X-Factor on this team imo. If the light can come on for him, he can be a very critical component to our success. He might get over looked in an opponent’s scouting report when most of the focus will be on Waters and Naz. At 6’7 and his elite athleticism, he has the ability to become a premier 2 Way Player.

Shaq sand Jackson never were allowed to reach their potential.. as far as they should have won a champ. Cuz Dale couldn't coach a lick. Great recruitor though

Just a little fyi, while LSU will surely win.....that UNC greensboro matchup is not an easy blowout. They have a great coach and played some decent teams pretty tough last year. Gave Gonzaga all they wanted in the ncaa tourny. If you are trying to pick thru the bones of that home non Conference schedule that might be the best one imo.

Agree. Could be a great season. The question will be can they learn to play defense. That will be the key.

I went to more basketball games than football last season for the first time since LSU graduation many moons ago. (Former GBFTL AND Basketball Band drummer here)

I'm really turned off to the current Tiger Stadium atmosphere and can very easily stay away without any mental anguish coming to the surface.

Well if you play three guards, you don't really have a place for a 3. We didn't really have a center either last year. Three guards and a couple of power forwards, although they both could shoot the 3 on occasion.

As far as trying to predict what individual players are gonna do, it's tough! There are many a player touted pre-season who for one reason or another don't live up to it in a real game, i.e. SEC. We now have a roster of good to great players but they all can't see significant playing time. Which of them will be the cream that rises to the top and performs consistently when the tough games are on the line, remains to be seen,

I just left campus. Watched a little bit of practice then had the sixth man dinner w Coach WW and guys. Bigby Williams will be a big time contributor he has transformed his body will be a big banger and rim protector. Naz is full grown but not as physical as coach Benford would like him to be. Smart will be better spotup shooter than many people think. Taylor’s dunks have everybody freaking out .bring on Nov 6

I wouldn't look at how we played last year as the only blueprint for this years team. Mays and Edwards are tough on defense but neither are going to slow down a bigger perimeter player. Too much to ask one of the freshman bigs to do that. We definitely have a huge need for Taylor, wouldn't shock me if he ended up top 5 in minutes.
