Obviously, we aren't the only ones disgusted with the change. Almost no one showed up for Auburn and Georgia last night.

Does a travelling rule make any sense if shuffling your foot when you start a drive is called travelling, yet at the end of the drive you can take a hop step and then step again to shoot. No call.

I only watch LSU basketball, mainly because it's LSU.

I never watch any other college hoops- it's such a poor and uninteresting product.

Whenever LSU's season is done, I'm done watching college basketball.

Meh, I hear that a lot, and I'm a get off my lawn, good old days kinda guy in many respects...but I still like and enjoy it.

I'll say this, I'll watch some other college hoops besides LSU, but as for college baseball, if it's not LSU baseball, if I never saw another pitch of another college baseball game the rest of my life I'd be fine.

I agree that the 3 point line has killed the game of basketball. I drives me crazy when a team is down one point and "most players" settle for the 3, rather than taking it to the basket for a higher % shot. A great example was the NC State game when Simmons had the ball inside of 15ft but kicked out to Blakeney for the 3. Go watch ESPN and see the highlights that they show. Nothing but dunks and 3's......The days of ACTUALLY running an offense in basketball is over.

My major complaint is that the game has moved past center play.

The NCAA has changed the rules to favor offense big time. Defense is no longer emphasised.
The o l d days of UNC and Dean Smith with the 4 corners. Those teams could wear down a defense with ball handling that simply doesnt exist today.

The shot clock is a terrible idea and truthfully so is the 3 point shot.

Cylinder violations are almost never called but happen in every game. Hanging on the rim is not only allowed but actually glamorized. They have even developed a "break away" rim to accomodate what should be a turnover.

Pushing off, travelling, carrying the ball and 5 second violations just are never called.

They have turned an organized sport into a "street ball" version which should be reserved for city parks and The "Y".

Then they allowed players to just play one year college basketball before entering the NBA draft. There isno real experience in college basketball anymore due to the players leaving.

I understand that the younger fans cant related but this game that is played today is like comparing WWE or WWF to true wrestling or comparing "T ball" to baseball.

When you change the basic rules of the game something is lost. Basketball is just not the same game that it was and I miss the true game of basketball.
I was thinking this last night. I remember when a shot counted as 2 regardless of where it was launched, and the goal was to get the easiest look you could get.

Fast breaks were exciting because that was about the only way to score quickly, to avoid the other team's center.

20 ft jumpers were rare, and if you had a guy who could make them, he was valuable... but he wasn't the key to the team. The key was a good big man with moves, a quick guard who could slice in and score. An explosive forward who could overcome the defense.

No shot clock didn't mean you'd drag the score down into the 40's, it just meant that you worked to get a good shot; and it didn't force teams to jack up long shots to beat the clock.
No 3 point line meant you didn't reward teams for coming down and taking the first open long shot. It counted the same as a layup or 10 ft shot banked off the glass (a lost art), and you would fall behind if you kept gunning instead of working the ball.

What they did to basketball is the same as if they would take football, limit the offense to 8 plays per drive max (maybe less), and count a 30+ yd TD pass more than a 2 yd TD dive. It would have the same effect- it would marginalize the run, any sort of offensive scheme that relied on discipline and strength, and push teams to throw it every time. You wouldn't drive, you would chuck it down to the edge of the higher scoring range, then toss it up over and over.

Traveling in college basketball is rarely called but it is a joke in the NBA.

I like the 3pt shot.

There has to be a shot clock because inferior teams will stall the game with your mentioned 4 corners analogy. I think Georgetown beat a weak team in the Dance back in the late 80's. I think the score was like 45-38 or something. taking the air out of the ball is not good for the game. I think the shot clock should be reset to 40 seconds though.

The hand checking calls are too tacky and too frequent. I don't think charges and blocks under the basket are clearly defined.

Meh.

26-24 games aren't my style. Shot clock is good.

3 point shot is the great equalizer in CBB. The blue blood programs generally get the size/athleticism stars. 6'10 225 lbs inside presence and can hit 18 footers. The 3 point shot gives the 300+ other programs a chance with point blank shooters that can ruin their day. I love the 3 point shot for CBB.

I'd honestly rather watch paint dry than watch the NBA or Pro Baseball. Both bore the hell out of me.

That lawn joke never gets "old" for some of you. Did you think this would be just as funny as the first 200 times some version of it was posted here?
