What about the other side to the portal? Hes gotten Skenes, Jump, Holman and others. I’d say we’ve benefited much more than we’ve lost in regards to the portal.

Great point.

Our gain:loss ratio on pitching is a large number.

OTOH, Jay has really inflated our portal expectations. Gonna be really miffed, maybe even pouting a little, if we don't get someone of the aforementioned caliber.

I honestly don’t think they’re “loosing” pitchers to the transfer portal. They may be “losing” them, but not “loosing” them.

It does not matter who the pitching Coach is. Look at Johsnons numbers everywhere he has been! He is to pitching what Miles was to Offense and Orgeron was to Defense.

LSU has arguably the best pitching coach in baseball, and they’re loosing pitchers to the transfer portal

IDK if this is a troll or not. Not only do we not have the best pitching coach in the country, but we don't even have the best pitching coach in the SEC West.

There is only one baseball and usually 9
Innings per game. There are realistically, potentially, 12 pitchers that might get innings averaging 4 games a week. We had more than that. The SEC schedule/season this year did not lend itself to getting guys that toss too many balls and can’t get outs much meaningful work.

So they look elsewhere for playing time. Some guys will not wait behind other players.

There are only so many innings and so many at bats in games . They have to win today, not next year. The kids have to figure it out quickly or someone else will. Every one of them is REALLY good. There’s only one shortstop…

In an interview JJ left me with the conclusion that most of the outgoing was part of reshaping the pitching staff & the team in general.
