Anyone that truely has been watching this year knows this team isn’t good. Their 14-10 record coming into this weekend was such a mirage of lamb killing the worst teams in conference. This finish combined with the likely loss next weekend will have their conference record more accurately reflect what this team is and has been this year, a likely .500 or sub .500 SEC team.

You have no starting pitching (all year), one of the worst defenses in the country, one that is right there with 2007s. Smoke laval never had a defense as bad as this even (close but still better). A HR or nothing offense. Relief pitching has been this teams only strength and that disappeared this weekend bc they had to pitch 3 full games. Can’t even be mad at them. But this isn’t THIS weekend specific, it’s been all year. Again, they’ve lamb killed.

Never said you did, but the post you responded to was me responding to someone who said that.

A&M takes 2 of 3.

Y'all are overrating the shite out of Ole Miss after sweeping Missouri and us.

We've had pretty much 2 constants in our batting order, no constants in our starting pitching, putrid defense and our bullpen has thrown a million innings. We are where this team should be given those things. Call me crazy but I think Johnson is the right guy for this job. I think he will get this fixed, sooner than later. It won't be this year though, unless 3-4 guys suddenly transform into complete players in the next 2 weeks and we get 2 consistent starters.

That said...this team could win a regional and they could go 2 and a 'Que. This team isn't going beyond that because, typically, the pitching don't lie in a Super regional.

So is Texas A&M, on top of being a better team.

A&M has played a harder schedule over the last month and has been better.

I’ve been saying this is one of the biggest weaknesses of this team. We don’t have that guy. Maybe Bianco, but you have to be in the lineup to pull that off. We lack vocal leaders. Everybody’s kinda quiet. Jay too. It’s crazy he hasn’t gotten run this year yet. But he just has a totally different style than Skip and Smoke for sure. Manieri was a little fiery early on, but even at the end, he’d criticize guys through the media. I didn’t like it, but it was at least something.

Jay’s just different. I think his style works long-term, but is probably not conducive to firing the guys up emotionally to win weekends, much less go on runs. He challenges them more intellectually. And we’re gonna hate it until we start winning. Which I think is just a matter of time, because I think his style IS conducive to recruiting—high school, JUCO, transfer portal, and current guys to come back who would have gone pro in the past. I have no doubt he’ll have a roster next year ready to compete not just to make it to Omaha, but to win it. We may not, but we’ll have the dudes. I think.

Not to take anything from OM, but our roster has some obvious holes in it.

We have no legit SEC Fri or Sat starting pitcher. I think most agree Hilliard would be an excellent Sun pitch, maybe Sat when he is really on. He is a grinder and I certainly appreciate his effort.

Our BP is wildly inconsistent. This is from guys with various degrees of experience, but should get better with more coaching and experience.

We have well-documented holes in our defense. Up the middle primarily - C, SS, 2b. You can't win consistently with poor play up the middle. Outs MUST be outs.

We are currently missing our #1 or #2 hitter on the team (however you want to rank Berry & Crews) and it hurts with RISP and at the back of the lineup. I hope Berry can get back on the field very soon.

This team has shown the ability to battle and play good baseball. We truly are a team that can beat anyone, but lose to anyone the next day. Hope they get hot and finish strong!

Friday started off the game on a high note. We got a quick top of the first inning and Crews launched a two run HR. But that dropped third strike on a play where McManus didn't quite get his arm extended to block the ball and keep it in front of him just derailed the momentum.

Free bases and extra opportunities are never good but they're even worse against a good hitting team. That changed the game. Its those small details that have been our undoing the whole season.

Game 2 was just a wash we couldn't do anything at the plate and couldn't pitch either.

Game 3 we just didn't do a good job of getting good at bats until later in the game.

We definitely missed Berry in this series but even more so in games 1 and 3.
