While he only threw a few pitches in the game you have to factor in that it probaly takes him about 25 pitches before the game to get hot and then he throws another 7 before the top of the first on the game mound. Add that to his 12 first inning pitches (or however many he threw) and you are sitting at 40 pitches. For him to get hot tomorrow is going to take another 20-25 pitches. This early in the season, these guys are on 80-85 pitch count limits, so he would only have about 20-25 pitches left. I can't see him going more than 3 innings. Maybe a fourth inning if the first three are without many high stress pitches. And I am talking about Sunday, not tomorrow.
So this magical 85 pitch count that most pitchers are on early in the season, its not usually counting the pitches before and between innings, but you included them. So, 80 from 12 is about 68 pitches he could throw, I'd say that could get 5 innings.

You have to count the fact that he has to get hot twice. There is a huge difference between the pitches he throws before the game and the pitches he throws between innings. I will bet you anything he doesn't throw 70 pitches on Sunday.

He will throw the regular amount Sunday.

Lol ok. I guess we will find out in 2 days.

He threw essentially a bullpen session today, ill bet he will be close to 70 sunday

Right about the bullpen, however you aren't factoring in that e threw a bullpen before the start also like yesterday or Thursday. No point in continuing to argue about it. I don't think there is any way in hell he throws 70 more pitches on Sunday this early in the season. Different if it were the SEC tourney but this doesn't mean anything.

What the frick are y'all talking about? All of the sudden you want to count bullpen and in-between inning pitches? You're kidding me, right? If you counted those for today, you'd have to count those every time. So last weekend, counting all of those pitches, Eades threw about 150 pitches.
I'm not saying Eades will throw a complete game, but he'll pitch a good 6 innings or so Sunday (if pitching well). That will be 7 or more innings deep into the game, don't forget his first inning Sunday will be the top of the 2nd inning.

After re-reading previous posts, I guess I'm just arguing with P&G 86. I think the others were thinking the same as I am.

I realize in between innings are not counted when talking about pitch counts. I will say it again. There is a difference between getting hot and throwing pitches between innings. I don't see him going over 50 pitches on Sunday. I don't believe he will throw 6 more innings. I will say my prediction is 50 pitch limit. Maybe a few more if there aren't any high stress pitches. I think he will go 4 more innings. Laugh ad call me a dimbass all you want I really don't care. We will see what happens in two days.
This isn't about him bring physically capable of throwing the pitches at a quality level. It is about the potential effects of later in the season. Kind of like shutting Strasburg down during a pennant race for the better of his long term career. No one will ever know whether that decision was the right one or not.
Point being, I wouldn't go more than about 50 in this situation in this game that doesn't mean a thing. PM may think he can throw 80. Or he might say he can throw 50.

I understand your reasoning, but he's got a day's rest tomorrow. He only threw 12 in game pitches tonight. The day's rest in between is huge. He probably threw about 7-9 all out pitches in the bullpen.
Of course, he could go out and get lit up Sunday and have to be pulled for ineffectiveness. It's baseball, Who knows?

This is true that he could get lot up haha.
Ill be the first to say, I hope you are the one that is right and that he goes an additional six innings, because if he does he will be kicking serious arse and it should result in a win.

I'm going back on Sunday to watch the rest of the game. Third baseman had a nice throw to first for the out. Southeasterns bating squad came out swininging. LSU had exceptional at bats. Eades would have pitched six solid innings if it wasn't for the rain. His first half of enning was fantastic. We have something special here at the great college of LSU.

I think both Hymel and eades throw about 70 on Sunday. Just hope we can win the double header today. Slu grad lsu fan.
