Moscona said Edwards would possibly start Sunday

The other day he literally said "I have not seen a single pitch in fall or spring...I just don't have the time...but I do have some people close to me that I trust."

I hope that's not Musso, Hill, or Hebert for his sake.

You would think his buddy Musso would be able to tell him Edwards has only thrown 1 inning in scrimmages this spring.

Even a cursory search of this site or any of the recent articles written would come up with Edwards being in a knee brace.

Moscona sucks.

I’m sure musso let him know. The tweet didn’t last very long.

I listen to Musso's podcast, because it's baseball content, but it's difficult.

Musso had quite a few comments in the show him and Hunt did that made me raise my eyebrows wondering what makes him think certain things. Like Holt being someone to watch out for on this team. Other than a pinch runner there is nothing for him to do on this team this season.

He has a strangely high opinion of the level of pitching in the Florida Collegiate Summer League.

Holt has zero chance of starting for this team. Watching him swing late and pop up on the 6th pitch of an AB that’s only going 88 mph can only happen so many times before you get written off.

Agreed. He was having trouble fielding some pop ups in early spring.

A good player but will be nothing more than a pinch runner for the first year or two.

He may be a good locker room guy and work hard and that’s all good but I’ve actually heard the opposite.

If things work out with recruiting getting a few people to campus then he can stay all 4 years and won't get a starting spot. Key in that is getting them to campus.

If you’re that small, you have to be great at getting on base or a great fielder. He hasn’t shown either.

I’m not trying to pile on. It’s just the reality of it. And the fact Musso thought he’s going to contribute this year is funny.

Baseball rosters turn over so much nowadays more so than 10-15 years ago. At the SEC level if you aren't producing anything after year 1 you're encouraged to find another team.

The exception to that this season seems like it will be Drost. I'm not sure how much he will produce this season. His K rate is extremely high in the Fall and Spring scrimmages and seems something just isn't right with him. I'm not saying he will ever figure it out but the potential that he does is enough to not be encouraged to find another team. Especially with a coach like Jay to try to figure out his issues to fix.

Since we got on the topic of infield depth, Cranford showed some good signs of life this spring. If I had to pick a sleeper, it could be him since he may get some late game time at 3rd.

I can see that. He did show a better approach at the plate it seems. I would say Merrified/Bianco/Cranford are probably the guys you would look at for infield depth. All 3 can play multiple positions.

Safford may be in that group. He showed a better glove at 2B than I expected.

With Jay mentioning Berry in RF then putting him there to start a scrimmage, you wonder if that is a true option. Opens up 3B for Merrifield, Cranford, etc.

Safford is talented.

You know how a coach's main objective is to put guys into a position to succeed. From that perspective you could say Safford was anti-coached last year.

Safford keeps slipping my mind after I made a decision to say he won't make it at LSU after everything that happened last season. Seems I may have pulled the trigger on that thought process a little soon. Guess we can see how he continues to improve hopefully.
