He’s a station to station guy on the base paths and wouldn’t ever be a guy to score from first on a double.

I’m hoping Gio or Safford can maintain that lead off spot but I know Doughty and Crews have taken reps.

He’s probably the best “athlete” Friday starter. I’m not worried about him.

I don’t think stamina has much to do with athleticism ..I’m just worried he won’t be able to go more than 5 innings.

It’s “you’re” and the quote you attributed to me in your response was not my quote...seems you tried to do a “2-fer” in one of your responses.

They’ve been building him up all offseason. I don’t think he’ll go too many 7+ inning games but LSU’s bullpen is deeper this season like many other teams. If he was out of shape I’d be worried, he’s a brick truck...I’m not worried.

Agreed...I’ll take 6-7 innings for sure. If he can average 7 he’ll be the #1 pick for sure. If I was a betting man I’d bet a little less than 6. Hope I’m wrong. I really think he was meant to be a closer.

I get that but he’s a guy that will get on base and immediately put pressure on the opposing pitcher out of the gate. Plus, he’s perfect to come up behind the bottom of the order guys.

Is he though?
Last year, of the 9 guys with the most at bats, he had the 7th lowest obp.
2 years ago, of the 9 guys with the most at bats. He again had the 7th lowest obp. So what about those numbers tells you he is good at getting on base?

Would not have guessed that. Interesting, I guess I’m incorrect.

Ole Miss that stacked this year to get 20 conference wins? That’ll be interesting to watch

They return their whole weekend rotation. Two of which have SEC weekend starting experience. And pretty much their whole lineup except for Keenan and Servideo are back. They're going to be really good.

I'd put them behind Florida in the overall SEC, on paper.

Ole Miss, Mississippi St, LSU all have outstanding rotations. Arkansas will have 2 great ones as well.

The SEC West is fricking loaded once again.

I guess he may have seen the writing on the wall with the guys coming in but is there any other specific reason Toups transferred?

I just found some summer stats for AJ Labas, who I didn't know pitched this summer.

He made 6 starts.

24 IP, 33 K, 3 BB, 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 34.4% K Rate

ETA: He pitched in the Florida Gulf Coast Summer League. There were a handful of SEC players in the league, but it doesn't look like Labas matched up with any of them.

God damn. We get those numbers from him as our Sunday starter and we’re going to win some series this year.

He would have been competing for playing time with Beloso, Dugas, Gio, Crews, Hampton, Drost, and Safford.

Hill’s stamina will be something to monitor no doubt. But it makes sense to test him as your Ace and let him go against lineups more than once in a game rather than against a few batters as your closer.
