This would be awful. Focus on baseball until the season ends.

I disagree. Most 2 sports guys don’t leave the sport that is in season to go to offseason practice. Just doesn’t happen.

I like it but feel like we are forcing Maurice to get some ABs early on since he missed fall ball.

I also like how fast Milazzo has proven his value. This kid could be the best catcher we’ve seen since Brad Cresse. And that says alot

Who are we keeping on the bench that is hitting in order to "force" these at bats?

Except Chad Jones and Jared Mitchell until his last year at LSU when he knew he wasn’t going to be back on the football team.

I think beyond this year is a different story but this year he will be an expected starter and it’s his first spring at LSU. He is on a football scholarship so whatever O wants he will get. O may have promised him something different and I could be wrong.

Hampton is great and deserves all the playing time this is just my opinion. I have stated that I think he is the starting centerfield right by the sec tournament and the only reason I don’t think it would be sooner is because of missing all of fall and spring football.

What do you base the opinion off of? Our former two-sport athletes did not miss spring football outside Mitchell his final year here

It’s cold tonight so don’t expect any offense from the tigers

Thoughtful retort; would read again.

If he starts getting hot and contributes in SEC play you don’t take him out of meaningful games to practice another sport.

O's competition to actually sign Hampton was the MLB. I wouldn't be shocked if there were promises made to allow him to not miss much baseball.

I know Mitchell and Jones were different, but O wasn't their coach either. O doesn't strike me as the type of dude that will say, screw you come to football. I'm sure he will be at as much football as possible, but without missing meaningful baseball.

I like Toups is in CF and Bianco in LF. 2B can share ABs between Doughty/Dugas until one wins the spot. SS can share ABs between Cranford/Hughes until Arnold comes back then he can share ABs with Cranford unless Hughes gets hot.

It’s not CPM’s or Hamptons call tho. It’s Coach O’s because he is on scholarship to play for him. I don’t know what Coach O promised him when it comes to baseball tho.

I could be wrong it’s just my opinion that Hampton isn’t going to be there during spring ball a lot. You still have plenty of baseball left after spring football is done and judging by how well he is adapting now he will be able to bounce back even if he takes a couple weeks off.

I’m just talking out my arse then. Just didn’t see how the baseball coach could let someone go in the middle of the season if he is an important part of a run to an SEC championship. Guess I’m wrong here.

I’m sure CPM doesn’t want to let him go but football is the main reason he is currently playing at all. Even after spring ball there is still another month and a half of baseball until the sec tourney.

We haven't seen how O handles a 2 sport guy yet. Les's feeling was if you're on a football scholly then you're gonna be at football practice. But O may be different

That's not entirely true. Baseball is the reason he is at LSU.
