Because the ump at 2B is not doing his job. He can see if a bat clearly crosses through the strikezone, which it did. Him using the excuse of, "I can't see it from here," is a cop out. He can see it, and he's just scared to do so.

And if you don't think that chewing a little butt on umpires doesn't work at times, you are mistaken. Umpires are human, and they don't want to be perceived as being one sided. Skip Bertman got thrown out of two games in his career. Skip Bertman barked at officials constantly through out his career. Most umps were too intimidated to eject him.
