Can someone explain to me the exact rule for calling a game official?
Is it once the 5th inning starts a game can be called.
OR
Does the 5th inning need to be completed (i.e. game going into the top of the 6th) for a game to be called.

Let's have some guesses on what teams are in our regional, especially from LA.

Thanx! Was surprised that it was available, as I only joined this hysterical website last August. Don't post often, but love this joint.

Technically, if the home team is winning in the bottom of the 5th, the game can be called. But if they are losing or tied, they must be allowed to finish the inning.

In the SEC all games have to played in full to constitute a win. In other words no 5 1/2 innings games will count not even an 8 inning game will count only a 9 inning game or until the game is completed no matter the inning!

If home team is leading after top of the 5th it is official. Otherwise 5th must be completed for game to be official.
