gausmen on the game and his pitching
But Gausman was dealing, too. The Colorado native matched his career-high with 11 strikeouts, needing 122 pitches to get there. He ran out of gas toward the end of the game, walking two batters in the ninth before leaving the game for sophomore Nick Rumbelow.
It’s interesting to note that Gausman felt he wasn’t capable of throwing his best stuff at the Bulldogs because of a blister on his throwing hand.
“It was really tough. I didn’t have any feel on my curveball…I think I only threw it about four times the whole game,” Gausman said. “I had to change the way I was throwing my [changeup] completely.”
His fastball was working just fine however, hitting the upper 90s during parts of the game.
Gausman said part of it was the atmosphere with 7,072 people cheering him on every time he reached two strikes on a hitter. But there was another component to the extra adrenaline.
“I absolutely hate that team,” Gausman said. “I hated them last year, and I hated them this year. I think that’s what the SEC is about, everybody hates each other…We all respect each other, but we hate each other.”
Gausman said he’d never been in a pitcher’s duel like Friday’s before. He didn’t even have time to consume his customary four powdered donuts between innings.
“I’d sit down and reach over to eat one of my donuts and the next thing you know I’m back out there,” Gausman said

How many times did LSU strike out?
17 times. 17 of the first 27 outs was via the K. The pattern went like this:
First pitch - called strike right down the middle of the plate since everyone in the MSU dugout knew LSU was not swinging at the first pitch.
Second pitch - Overly anxious LSU hitter swings a a ball two feet out the strike zone.
Strike three usually came in a variety of manners.

People who proclaim the season over in the middle of a game should be perma-banned.
