The official scorer has some discretion in a committee situation.

Let it go, man. Nola has gotten good work in. He probably won't go past 5-6. We'll still see another pitcher or 2. It's not hurting us, bro.

Your weekend guys go their standard five minimum. Get the win, get the work in. It's not about conditioning. It's all about rhythm, mojo, confidence etc. Pitchers are notorious about stats and this is a stat builder. They compete over wins, k's, innings pitched, etc. they know all the career and single season records and track their standing religiously. CPM keeps his ace happy and that means at least five innings. After that the point of get him out holds merit.

he wasn't on an established pitch count or inning count. no official scorer in america will give the starting pitcher the win after <5 IP without those in place

Yep he gonna go atleast 5 to get the win, which is fine..
Bbap just silly..

I bet no major league pitchers will throw over three innings at any point this Spring. I mean you know what you have with your top guys so there is no reason for them to throw more than about 30 pitches in meaningless games.

Ol' Eagle Eyes Robertson strikes again

Agreed with this. He would get the win as the outcome is convincing not in doubt, but the pitcher knows it takes five. Every starting pitcher knows that what it takes and it's ingrained to go at least that far. Quality start is six strong. You do more harm than good pulling him if less than at least five

Fraley and Zardon warming.
