Saban will not let us run the ball. He will sell out and put (8) in the box..and blitz us to death. Remember years ago losses to Georgia, Florida, and Texas were due to the passing game beating Saban's defense. Our receivers will get one on one coverage they just have to beat it and Lee must deliver. We will know at the end of the 1st quarter if we can hang.

JL might be the worst college qb at moving to avoid the rush. He looked terrible last night anytime there was pressure.

Lee has to hit WR's on the run downfield, Saban will stack the line and blitz Lee like crazy to induce mistakes.

On the other note, we have to sack JPW often, and take the fair shots on him when he releases the ball...get him worried and he makes big mistakes too...the more you hit him, the more hesitant he is...Alem and Jackson gotta get on it!

The good news is Bama is not as explosive as Georgia or Florida offensively so we should not be down so quick as these games playing catch-up.

Let's study Tulane's defensive plan when they played 'Bama. 11 first downs?

The reason I'm hopeful about this game is the fact that Les Miles is a great game coach. I think he will do, or at least try to do, whatever it takes to win the game. You might see a few wrinkles ... "Wild Tiger formation" ... more JJ at QB, more designed running plays for JJ .. something, anything, that Bama hasn't seen before on LSU game film. Maybe more Trindon. Some reverses. Defensively, we MUST blitz.

LSU will not be able to run against Saban's defense and Alabama's blitz will rattle J Lee.
BAMA 28

Going to be a long night unless J Lee impoves drastically in a week. Saban will shut down the run and Bama will hit Lee every time he tries to throw. It's going to take luck and turnovers to beat bama. They aren't very good offensively, so a couple of turnovers would certainly help. You can count on the pick six from Lee, need 2 or more INT's from Wilson.

I look for the gameplan to be keep it close early. Low risk offensive calls and limited gambling on defense. Bama's big games have been over by halftime vs UGA/Clemson if we keep it close for a half we may get the OH shite we may lose idea in their head. Then crank up the pressure in the second half.

LSU's biggest opponent is itself. They need to minimize the mistakes (pic-6's, blown coverages, missed tackles) to have a chance to beat a team that makes a lot less.

if LSU is up 10 points at halftime, bama might freak out a little.

Try that running back out of the back field play that used plague LSU while Saban was here. We could gash them big and get a quick six.

Our defensive line will have to play their best game of the year. Put Rahem Alem in there more so that he can get to Wilson.

Simple gameplan for Bama. Stack the line like everybody else does and wait for LSU to make mistakes.

LSU must make completions down the field and limit the interceptions to 1 (maybe 2 if we can get a couple)or they will not win...period.

Simple as it is, you nailed it. Force Wilson to turn it over, play to Lee's stengths.

Offense

1. screen, screen, screen
2. Attack the middle of the field. Bama's LBs jump the short crossing routes. Clear out with the TE and get the ball to a RB (circle route) or or slot WR over the middle.
3. Attack downfield. Bama has supsect speed at Safety and CB. We need at least 3-4 attempts to throw the ball over the top.
4. Be patient, Expect to have to eat the ball at times. Don't force any throws.

Defense

1. Stop the run (obvious)
2. Attack upfield with the front 4 on obvious passing downs (See SC game). Bama's OL is susceptible to giving up a pass rush from the interior.
3. Blitz only with a purpose. No sell out blitzes. Only blitz in an attempt to force the short throw and quick tackle short of the line to gain.
4. Press the WRs. Don't give them free release off the line.

Misc

1. Tiger Stadium. In my experience Tiger Stadium is at it's best playing in a game where LSU is the underdog. It's a totally different feeling than when the fans expect to win. Hopefully, the Saban factor will not get in the way of that.

saban's D's always had problems with the runningback out of the backfield.

I hope the coaches see this....
