You see all of the starters that are out for this game and this is your thoughts?

THIS! Weeks x2, Perkins, Haulcy, Delane, and Pyburn. Quite a bit of production, experience, and leadership.

Saw some glimpses from Spears, Singleton and even Jimcoily last night. 1st time starters everywhere, especially at LB. Expect to see many of these and others come back bigger, stronger and more ready to play along with some key portal additions.

You would rather have all the other defensive since 2020? I don’t think so. Blake is building something here. With Kiffin’s offense, we have a shot at 1 or two loss season.

Cut this crap out and get behind him

Offense not having a pulse is a big reason why the defense struggled at times against top 25 offenses. They were regularly on the field for 80+ plays without getting any scoring help from the offense. That definitely has an affect on the defense that too many fans discount and just say Baker’s defense is trash because they can’t pitch a shutout while offense can barely score 20 points and went 3 and out all game.

Then this bowl game, people shitting on Baker from this game just don’t pay attention or are dumb. They were without all of their best players on a defense that already had some depth issues. Not a surprise that UH was able to move the ball at will and it’s not this big indictment on Baker like you’re wanting to make it out to be. Having good players matters.

Excuse train continues on!

The ONLY defensive starter with no starts was Singleton. Everyone else has started MULTIPLE games! This excuse stinks just like bakers defense.

Right, so missing your Thorpe award finalist at CB, starting safety, all your starting linebackers, and several others on the D line doesn’t matter and that defense that played last night should have shut down UH? That’s dumb and you are a low IQ fan.

Shouldn’t have given up a season high 4 TD passes and given up the 2nd most points scored to Houston. Lol you people are full of excuses. Everyone had started multiple games except one player!

Who cares if we were playing with a ton of our backups…it’s Houston.

Now I remember why I don’t ever read the rant anymore.

How fricking retarded can one comment be?

No one is saying there should be no dropoff at all. But giving up 38 vs UH is ridiculous. We had guys like Guillory, Pickett, keys, etc in there. Our backups have more talent than most G5 starters I’d think. The fact that the excuses are there for Baker is exactly my point that he appears overrated. I don’t think he’s crap. But he’s not as good as he’s being paid to be. With his salary and the way LSU fans talk about him, I’d expect him to find a way to slow down a team like Houston with the talent we had last night. Excuses continue. Next years excuse will be that we score too quickly so they are on the field a lot

Do you not understand that missing these players have an impact on guys like Pickett?

Missing Delane and Haulcey has a huge impact on any CB but especially a true freshman. Without Delane now Pickett is your #1 and is going to get picked on. Without Haulcey you don’t have dependable safety coverage over the top.

Missing Perkins and the D line impacts guys like Pickett as well because now you have to cover longer.

Missing your best players has an impact on everyone.

And you keep saying “against Houston” like they are a sisters of the poor G5 school. They are not a bad Big 12 team man.

Agreed but you still have enough talent out there to not give up 38 against them. Again excuses continue. Just like the ones ppl made for Vandy and atm. What’s the excuse for bama when we went against Milroe or against Reed in 2024. He’s not bad but very inconsistent. He tends to struggle mightily against mobile guys and relies heavily on the blitz, which is why you often see the boom or bust results. I don’t see how ppl can watch our defense and think he should be paid the most of any coordinator.

I have questioned just how good our defense has been and could be, and my mantra has been to fire them all, (though clearly my voice never has and never will be influential in lsu football decisions), but with the offense that was fielded, I give a pass for some shortcomings this year. Next year, I would hope to see a much improved defense if we field a halfway decent offense.

I don’t need context. That comment right there told me everything I needed to know.

Can’t even have a conversation with people like that. Just walk away.
