Why is the fan base so divided over Raymond? When his name pops up on here it’s always a good amount of upvotes and downvotes.
Because he left us for a rival, then the rival sucked at pass defense and he was fired.
So now it’s not only a question of the dynamic between he and Kelly but is he even a good coach. He can recruit though
I’d be fine with it, but he is not a home run. And it’s pretty easy to see (above) why some would be hesitant

They coached together once will work together again next season

Maybe, just maybe, he will be better with better leadership.

Him and Frank on the same staff again, along with his success at coaching DB’s has me fired up for this potential hire. Sure, there may be better options out there, but he would be a solid hire IMO

His job as position coach is mainly development and technique, DC will handle X’s and O’s.

LSU’s pass defense was 81st on 2021….UF’s pass defense was 83rd and 70th during his 2 years. LSU can and should do better than Raymond.

Terrible post! Good try to make yourself sound like you know football. You failed.

What attributes make a good DB coach.
The most important attribute of a position coach is being able to recruit and develop relationships with players. The best DB coach hire will be the best recruiter who can also teach man and zone technique.

name them
Tim Walton- OSU
Pat Surtain Sr- FSU
Perry Eliano- OSU
Willie Martinez- UT
Chris Collins- UK
As far as on-field coaching goes, there are some strong contenders on this list. The top 3 would be tough pulls, but great adds.
Many of them would cost less than Raymond and most of them are younger, which is a plus at that position. Some are better recruiters than others, but as far as being an improvement as a secondary coach and coming with less baggage than Raymond has, they all fit that bill.
I do like Chevis Jackson as a second secondary coach if you put him next to someone more experienced, even if that were Raymond. Buckles would be another name with LSU ties that could be a good choice to pair with someone more established, as well.

Fran Brown is now Syracuse's head coach.

Yes. Forgot about that. I’ll take him off. I checked all of the others and none of them have moved up or around in this cycle.

Just curious, upon what are you basing this assertion that the two are close besides being on the same staff for one season (less than one year)?
If they are so close, how come Baker didn't hire Raymond when he became DC at Mizzou?

Speculation or information?

The hate for Corey Raymond by a group of posters on this board boggles my mind. Did he molest your Cub Scout troop or something? Few of us think he's the best DB coach in football, but he would be an entirely reasonable and safe hire. I'd much rather him than gamble on another coach who's never done it at a high level.
