He was on Off the Bench for an interview. Pretty good stuff. At around the 6:00 minute mark he is asked if LSU being DBU had anything to do with his commitment. He gives a GREAT ANSWER and the interviewers were in agreement.

Jordy and T-Bob talk to Marcus Banks on Off The Bench.

Here is an article that basically has a transcript of the interview. But the sentiment conveyed during the interview about DBU does not come over close to the same in print.

24/7 - Marcus Banks opens up on his decision Free article

quote:

Was “DBU” a big factor for you when looking at LSU’s pitch?

Banks: “Sometimes other schools will claim DBU, but the proof is in the pudding. DBU has always been LSU. I have been on recruiting trips and other schools tell me they are DBU, and in the back of my head I say ‘No, I think LSU has that one.’ I don’t preach to other recruits, I just list all the DB’s. I tell them name the DB’s from their schools playing in the league, and they can’t name them. That speaks for itself right there.”

Took the words right out of my mouth. Top 10 class in the making.

If you go by average per player, LSU is at 18. I know that includes a long snapper and a kicker. I have no idea if the 17 ahead of LSU have the same thing going on or not. But, right now, that top 10 ranking seems to be a quantity thing. I'm no recruiting expert or anything, I'm just going by the 247 composite rankings.

It is a quantity thing, but most of our highly rated targets are still uncommitted, which is the same for most schools.

The k and LS will drag down our metric there though. However, that kicker is pretty damn good and I'm very glad we're grabbing him. He's a very good punter too.

Yeah, I in no way meant it can't or won't end up being a great class at all.

Mentioned in another thread.....If Stingley commits the class jumps all the way to #4. A mid summer top 5 ranking is pretty legit.

That would be nice if he does. I still prefer to wait until February to judge the class when they sign, but any time you're in the top 5, that's great news.

Same but with stingley it's a little different cause hes enrolling early and signing in December and he said hes shutting it down after he commits. Now obviously that could change but with the early enrolling it's more likely he stays committed.

Yep, had the #15 rated class. And that ranking did not include other players that Eaux recruited to LSU - Joe Burrow, a CB with experience at the P5 level and an award winning placekicker.

Since this will be their first year to be able to play I'm not sure if Fehoko, Giles and Moss wouldn't have been counted in the most recent class also if they were being counted.

But none of these six players will ever count towards an LSU signing class. And four of the six and possibly five will probably start their first ever game at LSU in which they were eligible.

Okay, now that you got all that out of the way, we still had the 15th ranked class which is unacceptable considering recruiting is suppose to be the one thing that Ed 0 is actually good at.

Banks is shutting it down as well. They cancelled a trip to Tuscaloosa scheduled for this weekend and he said he's going to be actively recruting for the Tigers, ala Kardell Thomas and Marcel Banks.

There's still a lot of work left to do, but it's very possible that we end up with over 300 points on the 247 composite rankings. I don't think we've ever finished that high. Our 2nd ranked 2014 class fell just short at 299.29. As a point of reference, 300 points is almost always 3rd or better. Our top ranked 2009 class had a total of 293.15.

Orgeron and staff need to put a good product on the field this fall, to pull it off, but if they do, I think we'll all be very happy come December and February.

The class was top 5 in what we needed which was OL DL and WR...:

The one miss was surtain...which one recruit moves us from 15 to 8.

So however you wanna rank it it was top for biggest needs sans cb.

Here are Clemson's recruiting class rankings from 2013 through 2017:

2013: 15 Clemson
2014: 16 Clemson
2015: 9 Clemson
2016: 11 Clemson
2017: 16 Clemson

Clemson won the NC in 2016 with two classes ranked 15th and 16th. I don't know why people can't understand that the 15th mythically rated class is not a horrible thing.

If you think the "rankings" are the bible you need to think again. Hell the 19th highest rated player in this year's LSU class was named to the First Team All-State in Florida for 6-A.

And don't forget the 16th rated player in LSU's 2016 class. He was the 20th rated CB, the state's #14 player and the nation's 219th player. There was an article last week predicting him to be the #7 pick in next year's NFL draft. How is this possible? Are the 218 better players already in the NFL? Are the 19 better cornerbacks in the NFL or will they all be drafted ahead of Greedy?

I'll be really interested to see how big of an impact that these 2018 recruits have on the team. I'll bet they have a bigger impact than that 15 ranking that they recieved.

Sure it wasn't ranked real high BUT we loaded up with some DL, OL, and LBers who I think will have a huge impact at LSU. Not to mention the WRs we signed along with Curry and Joseph. I thought it was a pretty solid class altogether.

I'm probably going to regret asking this, but if LSU had better recruiting classes than Clemson, in your opinion how come they LSU lost to Troy and MSU while Clemson was in the CFP?

Also Damian Lewis was a low 3* recruit and will probably be one of our best OGs we've had in a while. That dude is going to play much better than his rank.

Provens is another guy who will end up playing higher than that ranking. You can put him in the slot or shift him from the TB position with a TB sitting in the FB spot and give people fits with variations. Versitle back who can be a WR/RB.

I think that class was very underrated and full of just tough football players. We'll see soon how they perform. It looks like a tough bunch to me. You add Burrow to that bunch and it's a solid class. GT

I heard that as well. But I haven't seen anything about if hes enrolling early though, do you know if that's his intention?
