This is kind of like fans chanting overrated when they are beating a higher ranked team. Although they might be overrated, it makes you look better when you beat a top 5 team instead of a team on the cusp of the top 25.

for those who think Aggie fans arent delusional, you must not know one.
I know plenty and they are all good guys, but when they put their maroon glasses on its laughable.
3 things all Aggies need to get through their head.
1. They will never be Texas
2. You didnt invent Freebirds, first Freebirds was opened in California in 1987
3. College Station is not a destination town.
ps: George HW Bush didnt go to A&M either although you all claim him

Before the bashing begins, let me say I am born in BR, raised in New Orleans and been in Texas 20 years. I actually pull and love both schools so I can actually see both sides but could not let this post get by without some actual facts. The difference is LSU fans think if you are good in football (one sport) that makes you the best athletic program in the nation. A&M ranked #6 last year in the NCAA Director's Cup and LSU was ranked #19.
I hate to mess up the board with facts but A&M played LSU 10 times this year head to head in different sports - A&M won 8 of the 10 matchups and are leading in track and field today. Why should A&M fans be jealous of LSU? Results below.
LSU beat A&M at football and finished ahead of A&M in women's golf at the National Championships. That is it!
A&M knocked LSU out of the NCAA regional's in men's tennis and softball and won head to head in women's tennis, men's golf, men and women's swimming, men's and women's diving and men and women's indoor track this year.
In sports they did not compete head to head this year, LSU is only ranked higher in one sport - vollyball. A&M is ranked higher and reached the NCAA tournament in men's basketball, won the national championship in women's basketball,is still playing in NCAA regionals of baseball, played in the regionals of soccer while LSU did not and is ranked ahead of LSU in outdoor track and field.
In summary - LSU has a better football team and beat A&M in golf. A&M is ranked nationally over LSU in every other sport and will once gain finish as a top 10 program again this year.
I am not sure how you can dispute this but I am sure you will try. Gig Em' and Go Tigers!!

Geaux? No disputing it...it's the truth, but now for more facts.
If you win a golf title or swimming title, how many people know? Die hards...alums...etc. But your average fan does not follow those sports. When you win in football, basketball, and even baseball, it's reason to rub salt in the wound.
Do 90+ thousand people show up to watch track and field? is it replayed on ESPN Classic for years to come? No.
It's nice to have a good overall athletic program...but it's laughable when someone talks smack about tennis, volleyball, etc, etc when the breadwinner is football, basketball, and sometimes baseball.

You and I agree 100% there! This year even if you just look at the top three sports, LSU won Football and A&M made it to the regionals in baseball and basketball while LSU did not.

Update. A&M just edged out LSU for national championships in men's track and women's track and field again. They have now faced each other in 12 different sports this year and A&M has beat LSU 10 of 12. Yes, most Aggies would trade it all for one national football championship.

How many of those matter? Only the rape in football.

All good points, but I work with several Ags, and it IS about football. Not track, not basketball, not baseball. They LIVE for their football. maybe to an even greater degree than we do, since we are into our baseball program. They're pissed about the recruits, because they can't recruit well in their own state. Sad but true. Texas dominates the recruiting, even though A&M competes very well against Texas football. The La recruits represent a chance to gain some ground in the talent arena against UT, and that IS their focus. In fact, it's an obsession that they need to get over. UT fans use it to their advantage, simply by pointing out that A&M sees UT as their rival, but they don't see A&M the same way. OU is their rival and A&M is just another conference game.

went to several games both here and there (in the late 1980's and eary 1990's)and the only fans that were nastier than them was Jawja...........tuck f&AM and everybody that posts for them(bunch of pencil necks trying to act like soldiers)

Here are more facts aggiegreen,
Texas A&M has 13 team National Championships all-time. Including 1 in football(1939).
LSU has 46. Including 3 in football, one in basketball(1935) and 6 in baseball.

Since when are A&M and LSU comparable athletic programs? Did I miss something here?
Posted on 6/11/11 at 5:51 pm to yamammasprofile
I would trade it all for A&M's women's basketball national title.

Thanks for pissing Pat Henry off, it has worked well for us.
Y'all have a football/baseball program that annually is the envy of many, don't bitch about jealousy, take pride in what y'all do well. You know the whole immitation and flattery thing don't you?

You are welcome. But remember... even with him... you are still aTm.

I like to think that aTm and any Louisiana school are the 'sibling' rivalries of LSU.......that we'll keep them in their place most of the time, save for a cheap shot here and there.

Academics they can talk
they are a fine academic school but no way there are good enough to trash LSU. we're pretty close. what gives them the rankings advantage is their money spent on research in some areas, esp. in their graduate programs. the student credentials (entering gpa's and test scores) are almost identical. their bragging stems from the fact that they have a lot of texans attend the college. texans are kinda known for blatant and very loudmouthed bragging; sometimes some of it is warranted but often it's not.college station is and always will be a backwater.
Posted on 6/11/11 at 10:29 pm to LSU GrandDad
they're just another group who exclaim the outdated adage 'don't mess with texas'.......although when confronted, no texan can answer the question "why?"

It really is all about football. I take pride in our National Championships but I live for football. Hopefully we keep climbing the mountain.
