I think FSU has some trouble keeping that spot given that a national title winning coach left that job to coach at a school lower on that list.

Frankly - Bama and Texas should be above UGA on resources alone

Agreed. They say Georgia is in a great town. Better than Austin? No. Is UGA a better school than Texas? No.

Also, this is bull feces:

Texas offers the complete package: Great school in a great town with great tradition. It’s easier said than done — just ask Charlie Strong

Strong had every resource at his disposal, and managed to
put up the 3 worst seasons in the 126 year history of Texas football.

Ranking UGA 1st is pretty silly. All the factors mentioned have always been there.

LSU should've have been around 5.

Alt26 again

I'll take a shot. This list assumes that a coaching vacancy has arrived today.

1. Texas-Easier to win the conf with little competition except for Oklahoma. The Oklahoma - Texas winner should play for the final 4 most years with the right coach.

2. Clemson- Dabo has the ship running on cruise control in a weak conference. Hard to see an easier path to the Final 4 for whoever coaches this team the next 3-4 years.

3.Ohio State- Surrounded by top talent and the only long term competition is really Michigan and Penn St. Talking about a ton of talent not winning titles, see Urban Meyer and Ohio St.
Almost anyone can recruit a top 10 ten class and win 9 games a year here maybe even asleep.

4. Alabama- Ever wonder how this school has won multiple Titles with just a mediocre coach? No school sits in the hot bed of more talent than the Gumps. Tuscaloosa is within 200 miles of 5 states and sits in the heart of the talent rich SE USA. Add in, that the SEC officials call Birmingham home and its easy to see why this is is a big 4 school. Saban will leave the place in great shape but the expectations and competition will challenge whoever gets this gig.

5. USCw- Maybe the best of these right now. The right person should be able to dominate the entire west at USC. Winning there would take the recruiting back to the days of Pete Carroll.
Lower expectations and even more so, the lack of competition makes this gig very desirable, even for some of the top dogs.

6. Oklahoma- See Texas above with slightly higher expectations.

7. Georgia. Talent everywhere. Weak east division. A sleeping giant on the upswing.

8. Michigan- See Ohio St without the hardware.

9(tie) Florida- with FSU and Miami scrambling around makes this a terrific opportunity. And they dont have to play Bama often being in the east. If Richt wasnt at Miami this school would be much higher on the list. Talent everywhere and the Gators play in the SEC where kids in Fla. wanna play.

9.(tie) LSU- There is no denying that LSU has some recruiting advantages and a few intangibles that makes the place special. Ever wonder just how many titles LSU wouldve won without saban and the gumps on their schedule every yr and sometimes twice? Now that Joe Alleva is gone, this school belongs in the top 10.
The big negative for LSU is the competition and expectations.

PS
Honorable Mention is A$M. Its all about the dollars. Anonymous sources have said A$M was prepared to go to 100 million for Jimbo but he took the 1st offer of just 75 million.

A&M by default should be higher on that list anyway given their resources.

Hasn't it been proven that Louisiana has the richest talent base per capita in the country? Plus Bama has a major competitor in-state. You have to start in the home state when you consider who's in a hotbed.

Being a few hundred miles away from the talent isn't as advantageous as a couple of hours in any direction away from most of it. Add to that we have Mississippi and Texas on either side of us.

La. does have the most NFL players per capita the last time I checked which gives LSu a recruiting advantage against most schools. Not sure what your point is?
