The OL isn’t great but I don’t think it’s all on them or as bad as tRant makes them out to be.

Weston Davis has been bottom 5 of the team every week on PFF grades and got benched at half-time of the SELU game. I get that he's a RS FR and needs time to get better, but we can't do much on the right side running or throwing with a free rusher on every down and Nuss is going to get killed if we don't fix the RT spot.

Never exclusively out of any formation -that would make our opponents defensive preparation way too easy

Same. But....

The reality is kids playing O line are not being taught how to run block anymore. Everything is 7 on 7 throw it every down.

Sad but these guys are having to learn how to run block when they get to college.

oh i know. trust me. i get what you are saying and you are not wrong. Miles' downfall was trying to punch a square peg through a round hole too often and not changing as needed.

But I do know that with Les, if it was 3rd and 1, we were getting a first down 9 out of 10 times or better.

we have to give him that. we knew we had a run game with that SOB against most teams not named bama.

yeah that is pretty messed up. we were always taught to run block first, pass block second. mind boggling. I mean shite it is not like we are running an air raid like mike leach/hal mumme or even a pro style spread like brady ran here. If we are mimicking brady it is not working that is for damn sure.

Never.

We have had success running outside, especially using Johnson and Thomas. That works just fine out of the gun or the Pistol. There’s no reason to tip your hand that it’s a 90% chance of a run outside of obvious short yardage downs.

Now, should we mix in some I- sure. That and single back under center, which we have seen in at least three games already.

We’ve also seen Thomas and Anderson motion in behind Nuss with the RB beside them. This isn’t I, but it’s the same principle. The RB becomes the FB and is able to run downhill to block. This set has the advantage of not changing personnel or look until just before the snap, so you get the advantage of I without tipping your hand early.

No, but I'd like to see more use of the TE in a more H-back role. Get him in motion. More counters to get angles and mask deficiencies in drive blocks. This way you get your lead blocker (H or pull) without sacrificing the versatility of shotgun.

Not going to lie though. I love a good F&G run.

This. At least 75% of the busts and mistakes are coming from his spot or Thompson. But with Thompson’s experience, you have to wonder if it’s really him, or who he’s sitting next to. I was all for giving Davis time to work things out, but he’s not progressing. If anything, Clemson was his best game and he’s steadily regressed.

I think we’ve all been out on Chester, but it was crazy seeing him come in and play much more soundly at RT, even if it was against a weaker opponent.

Donovan Green has looked good blocking when we go with 12 personnel. He also proved he isn’t inept when given the opportunity in the pass game this weekend.

The total offense ranking of our opponents
Clemson ranked 87
La Tech ranked 107
Florida ranked 108

LSU ranked 69

I would work on offense, not saying our defense is not good but let's get some elite offenses first before we stall the clock

comparison of defense

Florida ranked 31
Clemson ranked 77
La Tech ranked 79

LSU ranked 17

i dont know why we even try and pass. Our Qbs are terrible, Ours WRs are slow and our Line cant pass block. they are way better at run blocking so lets line up in the old Power I and run toss dive every play.....
