Alleva had NOTHING to do with Duke's basketball success. By the time he was hired as AD in 1998 Duke had already gone to 7 Final Fours; Played in 5 national title games and won 2 NCAA championships.
At best, he was smart enough to stay out of Coach K's basketball powerhouse.
