What is those two losses are to SEC West teams and we miss the SECCG?
Personally, I would just as soon he is gone after this season. However, 10-2, even missing the SECCG, might still buy him another year. I would just as soon he go now.

I say win the SEC. If not, I don't see him keeping his job.

oh im not saying it wont keep him his job, but ,speaking for me, ill always be waiting for something like tonight, it happens numerous times during a season, this is just the first time it has directly cost us a chance at the game...this was similar to the end of the first half at Georgia.

With Jefferson being a JR next year(can't blame RP anymore), I think we have to go at least 11-1 in the regular season and win the West to get people off his back. But we're not going to fire him for going 10-2. I like Les, but he better take a long, hard look in the mirror tonight. Crowton is gone, without a doubt. Les HAS to that. At the very least. But he needs to evaluate his own deficiency at the end of games. He's gotten away with it most of the time, but not tonight. Although, Crowton's horribleness was more to blame tonight than Miles's.

I really don't see this situation improving for Miles. I think 2010 is a complete disaster and he is fired the third week in November just like every other ex LSU coach. Have you looked at the schedule next year including the Non SEC games? No way this situation improves.
This year, he will throw the offensive staff under the bus and buy one more year. He is using the Tubberville playbook to suck as much money as possible out of LSU before he is fired.

Another thought. Put in somebody as OC/Assoc.HC, who can and will actually run the team and games; if Les' contract is untouchable, simply let it run down and let him wander the sidelines like Bobby Bowden at FSU until the clock runs out. Then buy him season tickets to Michigan games and change the locks.

Ive said it many time. He will be judged by the last 3 of this season . 9-3 + a bowl is what most expected. However even if it happens....the way it has unfolded has shown our HC to have fatal flaws.

If what I've read on other posts, when he wins 8 games a season, his contract gets extended 1-year. What a way to guarantee mediocrity. Great job LSU Athletic Department. We'll be constantly looking at $12+ million payouts!

Not if he happy-go-lucky stumbles into wins despite being outcoached! Not if the team plays just well enough to win against lesser talented, well coached teams ... those wins are not fun, IMHO.

He's dead man walking, imv. He'll get another year or two, but I don't think he's the answer, long term. And if he's not the answer, why stay with him for two more years?
He's lucky he's not 3 and 4. With this talent?
GTFO!

Does he have to win the West in 2010 to survive?
After what I saw tonight I don't want hin to do shite. Just leave of his own accord. This display of incmpetence on national tv should be enough for him to pack his own bags. What a joke @ the bargain price of $4,000,000.00 per year.

With an 18 million dollar buyout he just needs to keep coming to work it looks like.

One requirement would be that Shep does not decide to transfer.

but you have to look beyond number of wins when you don't win championships...
I agree. Most times you don't have to look farther than how old/experienced your QB is. If Jefferson progresses as much as he should between now and next year, we could easily go 11-1/12-0. And Miles would still be as great/mediocre/terrible as he is right now.
Urban Meyer--2 NCs--1 with SR Chris Leak, the other with JR and All-American, Heisman Trophy-winner, Tim Tebow
Nick Saban--1 NC--with 24-year-old-redshirt JR Matt Mauck.
Saban's other SEC championship was with 5th-year SR Rohan Davey. And LSU lost 3 SEC games that year. The same as Miles has lost this year.
Not saying Les is as good as Saban or Meyer, but there is clearly a direct correlation between old, experienced QBs and SEC championships. At least lately.
2008--JR Tim Tebow
2007-23-year-old SR Matt Flynn
2006--SR Chris Leak
2005--5th-year-SR DJ Shockley
2004--SR Jason Campbell
2003--24-year-old JR Matt Mauck
2002--redshirt SO David Greene
2001--redshirt SR Rohan Davey
2000--redshirt FR Rex Grossman
So, the last true underclassmen to win the SEC championship was Rex Grossman. And he did it amidst the greatest run by a modern SEC coach ever (Spurrier). And that was 10 seasons ago.
So, say what you will about Les. And compare him to Saban and Meyer all you want. But neither of the former 2 has won the SEC without an upperclassmen QB. Hell, Saban has never won it without a QB who was 23+.

I want him gone now, he is one of the most expensive coaches in the country, and we can barely get into the independence bowl, by default? Send him packing, his poor "in the clutch" decisions and penaltys have slowly crept into the forefront of this season.

True, but in order to get to the SECCG to have a shot at winning it, you're going to have to be able to get past 'bama (so long as Saban hangs round there) and probably Petrino's up and coming Razorbacks as well.
Blast it, Chicken, I've hoped against hope (and then some) that Miles would find a way to grow into a SEC HC ... because I hated the thought of the LSU program having to rebuild all over again, again.
Today, coupled with the ongoing poor clock management, glaring lack of overall toughness and on-the-field discipline in the post-Hester/Dorsey/Steltz, et.al. era, along with the inexplicable personnel decisions over the course of CLM's entire tenure at LSU, it's clear CLM is never going to be anything but in-over-his-head and drowning as a HC in SEC FB.
Nothing could have made that any clearer than that which culminated in the major cluster-frick at the end of the game today. The one CLM post-game presser I had the misfortune of catching on the sports news even this far north put the exclamation point on that.
But, then, like I've written here all along: I'm biased insomuch as I'd never hire a HC for LSU FB who wasn't hardcore defense. But, that's just me. Sure, you need offense, but defense in the SEC still wins championships.
