re: As tacky as the sponsorship patches are, I'm glad LSU's is pretty subtle and not intrusive

Don’t like sponsor patches on uniforms, these patches destroy tradition.

And once you start down this path, it will only expand. How much is too much? Two patches? 3? 4? 10?

How many corporate logos on the Tiger Stadium field? There's one now - which is hideous. How many more?

What about stadium naming rights - because that's coming too.

The lust for cash is all-consuming. And I'd prefer we resist that nonsense

Say we dont do it and all the other major teams do it, and they start getting more recruits than we do. We then start to lose to those teams. We then listen to you bitch about that. So I would rarhet us listent to people like you complain about the tiny patch then to hear you complain about losses on the field and recruiting.

Our whole stadium is already covered in ads. I hate it when they display the Community Coffee ads on the electronic ribbon boards and the whole damn place lights up red like a freaking Bama home game.

As long as it doesn't turn into NASCAR and we have to listen to "It's Saturday night and here come your fighting Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, DeWalt Tigers of LSU! Fueled by Sunoco!"

Nike logo is not really the same as a patch to me, but that's me.

How so? If Westside had a ubiquitous logo instead of lettering as part of the logo they’d run with that.

Nike pays for the swoosh, Westside for its logo.

The only difference is you are accustomed to decades of seeing the swoosh.

The difference is that Nike actually makes the jersey. It's not a 3rd party. Not a one to one comparison.

Nike pays some manufacturing facility to produce the jersey under its specs and logo. Westside could so the same if it wanted to get in the sports apparel business.

And if Nike produced galvanized steel and aluminum they could turn every goalpost into a big swoosh and we'd still be wearing a jersey without a patch.

good lord, man. It’s a slippery slope, and LSU has taken the first step.

The market forced it. LSU didn’t have a choice unless you or somebody else wants to write a big fat check.

The Nike ad on the other side has been there for decades at this point. What’s the difference?

one is the logo for the company that makes the jersey.

the other is a 3rd party that has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than selling an ad.

I can promise you that the wood side energy patch won’t be the only patch on LSUs jersey for long. Expect at least one more, maybe two by the 2027 season.

Honestly yalls arguments about the situation are both right. It’s kind of a double edged sword kinda thing. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Either route has its shitty consequences.

Debt, or losing to rich schools is way more gaudy.

It’s totally fine. Better looking logo than the sweatshop corp on the other side.

It’s still bad. We put adds all over the stadium and even on the field now. Leave the uniforms alone or only put it on warm up shirts. Imagine when we play in a bowl game or it’s an anniversary year, the jerseys are going to look like the awful Super Bowl jerseys from last year
