Like we have some real good competition at LB the starters on the outside feel a lot of heat. Even if they are freshmen, they realize the talent there now. No more Francois just strolling around with no one behind him to really push him.

Thank God we aren't using any more converted safeties. Our LBs will be sick this year.

Harry Coleman was really good.

Baker was converted too wasn't he?

Coleman was pretty good, I wouldn't say really good, but he was a solid player. I know I will catch hell from harry coleman beast for that comment.

The reason why LB has been an "issue" for us in the past few years: 2007 class: 0 LBs (although Francois converted). 2008: 2 LBs (Baker and Kyle Prater, who was processed and then Hatcher was converted later). 2009: We sign 3 - Barrow, Tahj Jones and Minter, our starting 3 now, but were young and inexperienced until last year. 2010: Muncie and Welter, both special teams players. 2011: Trevon Randle, who was processed. Last year, we had only 6 guys that came in as LBs on our roster, only one of whom was a junior or older.

82 tackles, 9.0 TFL, 4.0 sacks, 4 PBU, 3 FF
I'd say he had a really good year then

He was good. His problem was he was undersized and the great experiment of Mallveto was during his tenure.
'08 defense still haunts my dreams

Sheppard and Riley just stood out more. I'm not saying Coleman wasn't good. If stats are any indicator, look at theirs from 09 and you'll see they are better than Coleman's.

I had high hopes for that one.

Hopefully we have enough young talent this year and coming in next year that we won't have to suffer thru more situations like McCray and Hatcher being asked to perform in a position they were not talented enough to handle. Both those guys tried their best and I don't think it was fair to put them in that position but apparently the coaches had no other option.Onward and upward!
