My FIL (LSU grad) lives just outside Charleston. He asked if the article from their local paper had been picked up down here - I told him I hadn't seen it.

Yep, no doubt they coined it first, and I could care less. Think of all the "tiger" mascots or all the people named Smith. And I don't give 2 shits about a war eagle or a tiger or a gamecock or just a plain big ole cock. Who gives a rip!

There used to be a gas station just outside the north gates in highland rd that had a nameplate “Deaf Valley Shell”. The old stadium before the upper decks resale concentrated the noise, and fans were loud. It now takes more fan noise to impact at the same level due to the increased vastness of Tiger stadium.

owned and operated by Crowe Peele , a former boxer from LSU, took a few too many head shots, funny dude though, used to go there a lot

Tiger Rag is ours though. Nick Larocca, a New Orleans jazz band leader, wrote it. I don’t like hearing them play it. Too uniquely ours.

Big deal! One stadium is named after a ROCK and the other stadium is named for the intimidating atmosphere and noise it produces. A rock? That is cute.

We used to go to Crowe Peele's during the "gas shortage" when Carter was president. Crowe always sold gas to my family even when he had the "no gas" sign up. Good dude.
I thought he ran a Texaco station though.

Who cares if it’s the “original.” Louisiana did with Death Valley the same as it did with Mardi Gras. We took something someone else was doing and did it SO much better that no one gives a shite about the first one (unless you are a Clemson fan or from Mobile) sorry bout it.

the article is correct.
igrew up a block from tiger stadium in the 60s.there was a gas station at highland rd and state st called deaf valley shell which was owned by a former LSU and pro boxer named Crowe Peele.some local broadcasters started saying Death Valley in the 80s.as as an LSU fan i hate to admit that clemson used it 1st.conversly Lsu has the sole original rights to the tiger mascot. stonewall jackson named a civil war unit from LA the fighting tigers saying 'they fight like tigers"...
