I mean, it’s state law that there is no smoking in public buildings

Smoking is now prohibited in outdoor sporting arenas and stadiums, except during concerts, festivals and parades.

Seems to me, if the cop didnt WANT to enforce it, he could have chosen not to and considering the circumstances....I'd say he made a poor choice resulting in this situation.

I'm not excusing or condemning either. I'm saying they aren't really that similar of a situation.

I can't stand Odell Beckham FWIW. It is just absurd he's going to get arrested for this.

Common sense is the cop not treating a kid smoking a victory cigar like a fricking felon.

Absolutely agree.

Reasonable: He could have gone up to players in a calm fashion and asked they please put out the cigars. Or even tell one of the coaches and let them handle it.

Who here was in the locker room?

Does anyone know if a coach or any other adult (Derek) was spoken to about this?
Do we know for sure that no warning was given?

Please tell me you see the difference between bumping shoulders and smacking an armed guard or cop on the arse?

That is NOT what I meant. I said: "How many times have you sat next to someone at a sporting event or elsewhere and you get smacked on the shoulder?"

I am talking about someone slapping me in the shoulder to get my attention. Not nudging like a shoulder bump, someone hitting me.

It happens a lot to me and I've seen others to it to others. It is so common, you probably do it too without realizing you're doing it.

Paul Blart should have been stuffed in a locker for being a chode.

Also Odell should just drop of a bag of Benjamins at the front door of NOPD headquarters.

OBJ is a total jackass and absolutely the party at fault here.

My issue, is the cop could've handled the situation with some common sense and not like an a-hole and this entire thing may have been avoided.

Watch the video, D Lewis wasn't even smoking a cigar when approached. He may have had one prior to the video, but the cop was treating him like he was smoking it in his face and refusing to put it down.

"outdoor"

nice strawman NPR article you got yerself there.

i guess quoting the actual law wouldn't fit your narrative.

quote:

2006 Louisiana Laws - RS 40:1261 — Louisiana superdome; smoking regulation
PART X. SMOKING REGULATION

§1261. Louisiana Superdome; smoking regulation

A. It is the public policy of this state to protect the health, comfort, and environment of the people of this state.

B. Smoking shall be prohibited in all areas of the Louisiana Superdome.

C. "Smoking" means the carrying of a lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe, or any other lighted smoking equipment, in addition to the inhalation and exhalation of smoke by a person from any form of lighted tobacco.

D. Any person who violates the provisions of this Section shall be advised of the prohibition by Superdome personnel. In addition, the board of commissioners of the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District may adopt rules to provide for ejection from the Superdome of any person who continues such violation after being so advised of the prohibition, such rules to be enforced by security personnel in accordance with board rules.

NOPD looks fricking petty with this shite.

OBJ is a dumbass, but come on NOPD.

NOPD can't do anything about this. The security guard is clearly pressing charges. A crime was committed on video. They can't tell the security guard to kick rocks regardless of how "petty" this might seem.

Superdome is not an outdoor arena or stadium.

Superdome smoking policy

quote:

Smoking inside the Superdome is prohibited by law. Smoking is permitted in the following areas only: Gates B, D, F, and H Plaza Level Exterior.

*Inhaling e-cigarettes is not permitted inside the Superdome, but they may be used in the designated exterior smoking areas as listed above.

If the guy pressed charges and the judge/DA issued a warrant, the NOPD has no choice in the matter.

The guy is trying to get rich off this and the city is allowing it to happen.

This.

So many of you stupid motherfrickers have absolutely no idea how this process works and are making an arse of yourself.

I'm doubting that the security guard ran to the police to force them to act.

NOPD cannot do anything until a victim comes forward. The security guard is the only one who would have started this process.

I didn't see where the law was available to quote.

The security guard was still an a-hole about it.

What! I have to obey laws? That’s for the other guy. I’m above rules and laws but want others to adhere to it if I deem it fit.

Why? They have a video of the assault being committed?

and if you're told to go enforce the law, expect the entire LSU fanbase to call you paul blart and talk about what an idiot you are.

They cannot tell the victim of a crime to get fricked if he wishes to press charges.
