I think it's a good move for Arky. They don't really have a lot of options, but if he can keep them close early that may liven them up a bit. IDK much about his endurance, but I did see a Texas releiver pitch 13 scoreless innings on 169 pitches so let's not assume an easy ride, although I believe PM will have this team ready again.

That was long reliever Austin Wood.

Stephen Richards is a closer just like Matty Ott.

They have to bring the best pitching they have left and hope it gets them to a second game.

That might be the best point made in this thread.

If I were an opposing coach and had the arms, Id throw a different pitcher every inning
That's what Nichols St. did, & it worked for them against us. The only difference this time, is that we simply are on a roll, & I hope we can score early & often. Don't want a second game, so our pitching staff is well rested...

This should at least give Arky a chance to stay in the game early on. Of course it won't matter that much but it could make for a more compelling first inning or two.

Confidence is good, but I'm getting a little worried that I'm seeing maybe a bit too much of it on this board...

This is do or die for Arky. They will throw guys at us until their arms fall off. We should break through if our pitching is good.

Their biggest problem is losing Tschepikow. He will be missed in that lineup.

Arkansas to start closer Friday vs LSU

In other news, LSU to start Matty Ott. We still win.

That is a big loss for them, difficult to replace in the field & his bat...

Why would you be worried over a bunch of ranters confidence? we have lots of confidence in a great team. its not like anybody on this board is playin or coaching so we can be as confident as we want

I doubt he sees the third. And then, even if they do manage to keep the game close, they have no closer at the back end of the game.

The goal for Richards is not going the entire game. The goal for him, is to give us 2-3 solid innings of work, and hopefully frustrate LSU hitters in the process. Richards has thrown 35 innings this year, and has 52 Ks. So the frustration factor is there.

And yes, there still is a closer type available for Arkansas in Mike Bolsinger.
