Sorry, but appropriate commentary and criticism is absolutely warranted in this situation. If he can't handle that, then god help him if he gets to the NFL.

Between 17/18 and being a 22 year old I matured quite a bit and I don't think that's out of the ordinary. Gilbert didn't go out and kill or assault someone. He's a kid that made some mistakes and by most accounts is trying to make things right.

I thought we only had room for one more and Major Burns was it.

If so, we will have much more success moving the chains. Which results in touchdowns, and thus wins, baby...

How do you guys feel about the other "quitters"?
Chase, Marshall, Shelvin, McMath
Are they still honorable Tigers? Will they make it in the NFL?

I think the Gilbert situation seems a bit different, don't you think? There's been a whole lot of this and that, he's leaving, he's not, he's going to UF, he's not, possible mental issues, academic issues, etc. Without details, all of this invites speculation from fans.

And my post about the pressure and criticism in the NFL was directed to the other poster who said we shouldn't be critical of Gilbert. Of course we can be, this is big-time football and he quit during the season.

If Gilbert was transferring in from another school, this would be an eighty page thread already with a million likes.

I'm all for Arik coming back if he's doing everything the right way to get his life straight. He's still young enough to where he can make a difference and hopefully inspire others with his story which is yet to unfold.

With that being said, none of the players you mentioned quit and went to a rival school in which we have to play every year.

he was an elite recruit who voluntarily chose to play football at an elite football school, in the top conference in the nation. Plays in front of 100k live, and millions on TV. He knew he would be living in a fishbowl.

This life he chose comes with high pressure and expectations. And he quit before the season was over, and then apparently flirted with going to Florida.

Sorry, but appropriate commentary and criticism is absolutely warranted in this situation.

Are we pretending the nonsense COVID restrictions didn't royally frick up the college experience, especially for athletes that had to stay in a bubble if they wanted to be able to play?

It's really easy to sit here and judge this kid from the comfort of where ever you were. He was away form home, alone, and really couldn't do anything socially. That's a lot to handle.

Spare me the "soft" and "pussy" comments. The aren't impressing anyone.

Correct me if i’m wrong but I thought McMath was injured. I wouldn’t call that quitting.

I don’t really trust the coaches to make this decision on whether or not he should come back. I’d much rather the fat mouthbreathing idiots on the rant to determine whether or not he’s earned the right to be back with the team.

Gilbert never transferred anywhere. He's technically still counting against the 85. LSU doesn't need to free up any space for him to play in 2021.

Seems that Gilbert got some bad advice and wasn't as mentally strong as we thought a 5 star recruit would be. I personally don't care whether he comes back or not, I'd just like to hear a statement from him on his plans for the future if he decides that our school is good enough for him. Other than that, he can go be a generational talent somewhere else with his 1.0 GPA.

ETA: If he gets his shite together I'd love for him to be scoring touchdowns in TS this fall.

If he does return, LSU has to use him better than they did last year. He caught enough passes, but few were at critical times, except for the numerous passes he caught after running a 2 yard pass pattern on 3rd and 4. I am so sick of that kind of offense and not using the tools we have. I'm hoping our new OC is smarter than that nonsense. I'm sure Arik got very frustrated with the way he was used also, and has been convinced that our new OC has bigger and better plans for him. That's my hope for him anyway....he could be a major cog in our offense used properly.

You may be correct. How much money would you bet that any opinion on this board, about Arik, is fact.

This board is for entertainment purposes only, IMO.
Any facts that are stated are merely a coincidence and not based on verifiable research.

He might as well have. He was pretty irrelevant on the field.

Tiggger98 - how f*cking cute is that name lol. Let me guess nickname from ole mee-maw? lol

I am honored to be on the top of your list, thank you very much! Now if it would have been from a poster that I actually respected, that might have given me reason to ponder a little bit. But damn son, hitting the top of the list of someone who knows nothing about sports cause all he has ever done is sit on a sofa and do a 12oz curl. Now that is an honor!!!

Thanks lil man, I accept this badge of honor with the greatest of appreciation!

what a turd burglar you are tigger - lol
