I thought we were going to steamroll our way through college baseball. After the last two weeks I have slowed my roll.

The Same

Look at Ole Miss last year - last one in, last one out.

Baseball is a funny game and the most unpredictable at times.

I had higher expectations before Shores, Taylor and Edwards got hurt.

Sorry but if they don't make it to Omaha the season is a huge disappointment.

Less. Bullpen got steady worse and batting has steadily cooled

The same. I had serious questions about our pitching staff before conference play began.

My expectations have been tempered simply due to the pitching injuries. You can’t win without strike throwers

I had them making a deep run with the portal and number one recruiting class coming in. About a third of the way through SEC and after Shores and Edwards went down my expectations simmered. Since the SC series I realized we were in big trouble and will have to fight to get out of a regional. I still can’t believe out of all the pitchers we have 2-3 haven’t stepped up. We only need about six or seven counting the starters to win it all with our lineup.

We may not look as good as we did a month ago. But it still doesn’t change any of the goals this team had going into the season. Each of the goals we set out to accomplish are still on the table. This is why college baseball season is so exciting. I just sit back and enjoy the ride while it lasts; doing my best not to read the negative topics on the Rant (not saying I haven’t had my share of negative thoughts the last couple weeks). Lsufan1971 said it best with his post about the Tigers’ poor games in May of ‘97, yet ultimately winning it all.
