Are you expectations now different than they were preseason? More, less, the same?

I don't follow LSU Baseball quite as much as you guys do but I watch here and there and pay attention. Curious as to the diehards thoughts.

From a total casual like me they are less. Preseason and early season hype was beyond compare. Now its pretty apparent to me that the pitching might not be quite championship level from top to bottom.

Again, I am a casual though so I'm curious about those that follow every pitch of every inning.

Edit: This is a thread bump from a thread from 4/13/23

My preseason expectation was to make it to Omaha and it's still the same now.

It’s all about getting hot at the right time….In May and June

With Skenes and this lineup we definitely have a great chance to win it all, but there’s a lot of baseball to be played.

Get to Omaha, win a couple games and let’s see what happens. I’ll be disappointed if this team doesn’t make it to Omaha and make a little noise with some wins.

with the star power on this team, anything short of Omaha would be a huge disappointment
and to think you are gonna have to replace your two best players in Crews and Skenes going into offseaason

It’s funny because there are some guys going in I wrote Off:

No expectations for Edwards never would have predicted Herring to be this good this fast, Guidry was a shortstop

And guys I had Really high expectations for: I thought Collins was going to shred. I thought Hurd would be a beast

And Herring is a beast
And Guidry is looking like our closer
And Collins sucked but has now pitched 6.2 shutout innings.

We’ve pitched most of the SEC slate without Auckenhausen who’s been good and hopefully is back sooner rather than later.

Floyd’s been serviceable but needs to get it together.

I would say it’s hard to honestly say mine haven’t taken a slight hit with the pitching injuries but definitely still gonna be a tough team to beat if they play up to their potential.

Now if Collins makes a leap and Ack comes back healthy I think we are right there again. Just a little bit bummed at all the arm amputations we’ve had.

Losing Shores and Edwards definitely sucks.

I still Think we can get by.

We need Little or Hurd to step up at a minimum

Expectations have lowered due to pitching injuries, but if the healthy pitchers can get going and be productive we have enough on offense to make a deep run.

Same.

I picked 21-9 ( we've missed a game so.. still on track for similar).

I expected a top 4 seed - Same

If our pitching and things fall in to place , as always, we make CWS. it's never a given ( see UT last year)...but likely to make it there.

I’m no baseball expert but I feel like the best you can hope for is to get to Omaha. So many things have to go your way (including luck) to win a NC that it’s impossible to predict. If Jay can consistently get to Omaha we will run into one.

I think expectations are still the same as preseason which is Omaha.

Now individual expectations have shifted....as stated

Well, he wasn’t offering an opinion. He was asking for the diehards, who follow more closely to give their opinions.

So you’re being a dick for no reason

Totally dependent on the freshmen maturing quickly and Floyd, Hurd and Little being a lot better than what they are.

Exactly why we are in a good place to keep getting them.

Hurts to lose some pitching you were counting on but on a positive note we have won 2 of 3 each weekend against great competition. That is is a great sign moving forward. If some of your young arms continue to improve and develop then it looks good for Omaha and a potential run. What would really help is if we could see our great pitching coach figure something out with Hurd and/or Little down the stretch. If he can get them consistently better then the sky is the limit
