Are we still going to throw the ball 90% of the time with a freshman QB?

I say we put the offense on Emery's back and lets get more creative with the running game. We will need to moderate risk and big shots on these young guys unless we absolutely struck gold with one of them, then of course let em rip.

Hell no. It will be all about the running game.

So we spent the entire Les Miles era crying about not throwing the ball enough. Now that we are throwing it, and having success on offense, we want to go back to running the ball constantly?

Let's put everyone on the line and toss dive S. Carolina to death. That'll be great.

The toss dive won us many of games against opponents who we outmatched physically. Usually everyone but Bama. I don't care if we run the ball every play if we win the damn game.

Did you miss that Myles may be out for the game.

We wanted to throw the ball MORE with Les, and now we want to throw the ball LESS this year. You realize there’s such thing as a middle ground right? Dumb mother fricker

Currently we pass/run at a 59/41 pace - guessing we see about 50/50 with both QBs being freshmen and both QBs being able to run a lot better than Myles

Johnson has more potential there than any other qb on the roster. Finley is not a running threat.

I mean we don’t do this, so.

Each play will depend on what South Carolina's defense is doing.

Absolutely not...let them air it out...with a perceived 1st rnd WR Terrence Marshall Jr., emerging Arik Gilbert, and 2-3 other high ceiling receivers... you’re almost warranted to pass an insurmountable amount of times. An atrocious third-down conversion percentage and sickly rushing stats all to still drop 41pts attests to this notion. I wouldn’t say completely abandon the run game but to merely take advantage of one’s strengths...Emery showed out against Vandy; however, it hardly validates him as a prolific RB. Strangely enough, I’m more inclined to worry about our defensive tribulations than the offense.

Do we have a choice? Our running game has left a lot to be desired

We better be prepared to throw the ball. The other team will be stacking the box and daring us to throw it like they used to do in the Les Miles era.

Exactly...with the exception of a few completions, Terrence Marshall and Arik Gilbert caught contested passes. These two gentlemen have proven it doesn’t matter who covers them, they’ll still gain separation or make the catch in traffic.

I was obviously exaggerating but we did throw it 75% of the time against mezzo. A team we should just steam roll with the running game and collect the W.

I feel like we are who we are offensively and making a drastic change in that would be a mistake. Both Johnson and Finley were recruited here for a reason, and them being forced into action shouldn’t lead to training wheels for the offense.

Not saying I don’t think some minor changes shouldn’t be made, but I don’t think we should go from throwing it 44 times and running it 30 times a game to like 50 runs and 24 throws.

You know that is not the case dude. Most people think that a balanced offense is the best choice, which we didn’t have under Miles. I find it crazy we have abandoned the run completely recent and that should be fixed.

Without a balanced attack and horrible 3rd down conversion rate, the LSU offense still dropped 41 pts??. With an average SEC defense, 41 wins the game against Mizzou, Miss St, and predominantly any other SEC school. Offense is certainly not the issue. Our porous defense allowed Mississippi State’s Costello to look like the second coming of Mahomes. Just saying, our offensive play calling diversity isn’t the issue. Our record is a testament to busted coverages and poor tackling. I’ll take our pass heavy offensive output any day over a balanced run-pass pending we shore up the defense.

You can’t change the entire offense because the QB is different but you can change certain aspects. I’m sure it will be closer to 50/50 run/pass now with Max Johnson having 6-7 runs designed for him to go along with whatever he creates on his own. You can actually run the offense closer to how Burrow ram it with Johnson than you could Brennan but there’s going to be growing pains. If you could guarantee Max would complete just 50% of his passes against SC I think O would take that in a heartbeat.

This season is already over.

So if we have to start a freshman at any point, we might as well just run the offense and let them take their lumps and get experience for when are competitive again.
