I believe the Defense for an RPO, fast paced offensive team needs to have a 1st and 2nd team defensive team like in basketball. And populate the 1st and 2nd teams accordingly. Especially for the D-line who tend to tire out more quickly.
1st team defensive line: Lawrence, Logan. Shelvin.
2nd team defensive line: Fehoko, Jenkins, Ika.
Play the 2nd team D-line when the first is winded and the Offense has scored quickly (less than (4-5 minutes?) before the 1st team has had time to rest, hydrate, and discuss strategy. Rather than running them right back on the field. Rotate in Thomas, Moore and Evans as needed.
The other positions on defense probably wouldn't work as a 1st and 2nd teams, but could be rotated liberally based on match ups and energy levels of the individual players. I believe I read where they were using technology to determine the players energy levels. Maybe that could be incorporated. Test them when they come out the game and substitute if the player needs to replenish.

This is a good topic, IMO.
If you're okay with the prospect of giving up points due to your offense being so prolific, perhaps it's preferrable to have the secondary take chances (as they did vs. Texas) and try to generate extra offensive possessions via turnovers.

I’m more concerned about infusion and tackling. Lack of aggression is caused by these two things, in particular confusion. We have aggressive ball players so my money is on confusion.

24 points over 16 possessions isn’t that bad.
How about- first possession of the game: TD. First possession of the 2nd half: TD.
Vanderbilt.

Cant really say, but I was sitting behind the LSU bench last Saturday and Aranda himself show ZERO aggression or emotion the entire game and he never chewed asses, which is what a DC should do when LSU tackled as bad as they did.

I might be missing some, but the only big hit I’ve seen this year when our defense was on the field was when Duvernay laid out Delpit.

The fact of the matter is, because of these conditions, the defense is lazy.
My guess - and it’s just a guess - is that Aranda has loaded them up with schemes, and they are thinking too much. He’ll simplify, down to what our guys can handle, for Florida. Then you’ll see the defense shine.
