Are we going to see more running from Harris this season?

I feel this is a big part of his arsenal that needs to be used more. I know he was slowed down by the injury against bama, but we saw a bit of it early on in the year and then he went away from taking it himself. Watching highlights from the Texas Bowl and his TD run, I feel with teams keying up on Fournette and Guice, Harris should be able to run all over the place on the read option.

Was that playcalling or Harris trying to be primarily a pocket passer?

Agree completely. It would change the offense quite a bit if he would keep it more, and they should run more QB draws. (teams kill us with draws)

But he seems to be hesitant to keep it on the read option. Maybe he just thinks Fournette should get it every time.

It almost makes you wonder if it's that fear of being labeled a dual-thread QB that can cause some players to shy away from the run. Like they want to establish that they are a passer first and ignore a key part of their game.

ETA I mean the first couple of times we saw him in 2014 he was all over the place.

Maybe so. I agree 100% he has got to utilize his feet more. I think we saw a lot more of it last year. With another year under him, he should be even more comfortable under center. Which hopefully will lead to better stats and more of him being him, which includes his ability to run with the ball. I really have a good feeling about him this year. If he has a solid first couple/few games, his confidence will be sky high...hopefully leading to a solid year!

If the passing game is solid, imagine this offense with the added threat of a QB who can gut you when you're least expecting it

I honestly think we will see more read options from Harris. They wanted him to bulk up for a reason. He has proven to be a weapon on offense with his feet. Hopefully the added weight will pad him from injury!

Man I hope so. I remember the first drive of the second half against Bama. On third down, I think, he runs and we get the first. Looking back, I guess he was hurting.

I think a lot of that will depend on how much weight he as actually out on. I've seen the reports coming out that he is bigger and stronger but we will have to see. If thats the case I hope he is utilized more in this way and he has gained some confidence running the ball. He often looked tentative to me.

He's fast and elusive.... He's also somewhat frail and I could really see him choking the ball up a few times if he gets too crazy

Am I the only one who doesn't think Harris is a very good runner.
He's fast.
But he doesn't seem like a natural runner with good vision and elusiveness, or like he really wants to run.

Not saying he shouldn't have some designed QB runs, because it helps if defenses feel the threat of Harris running. It makes them have to account for him on the read option.

As conservative as Les is with the QB position, I don't foresee many designed QB runs.

I just know he's typically pretty effective when he does it.

What do you mean see? We've seen numerous pictures and he is noticeably bigger.

That said... he may get a few more carries, but I suspect Les is afraid he will get hurt and limit the amount.

I agree with you. However we do not need him to be superman. We just need him to take what the defense gives him.

This... But I don't agree with it.. You should at least get the yards given to you if the defense doesn't account for you. Just do it smart go down when you about to get hit and limit the pounding. We need this and all of our offensive weaponry we have. Use it ALL don't limit yourself bc of an injury that can happen anyway. Just be smart about it. GT
