I remember Matt Detillier's report from that camp.

Something along the lines of the coach wondering how this kid got there. That he was the worst guy at the camp, by a large margin.

He reported that on Scout msg board, and LSU fans ripped him for it.

Well shite. Didnt know that...

I just proved it is possible.

You didn't prove anything, you just pointed out an exception and said "look you don't have to!"

And I'm done arguing with you. IMO, Lee has the better chance to be evaluated by the pros and possibly make a P.S. You think JJ is better than Lee mechanics-wise. Agree to disagree, we'll go round and round.

We can agree on this: Neither one is really worth a shite. The difference are marginal at best.

Tduecen dosen't like when people are critical of Lee, but it's OK to be critical of Jefferson.

I've been critical of both and called them both crappy quarterbacks.... I am not as blatant about it as yourself Quad

You said his being a better passer means his mechanics are better.

I showed you that it is an invalid logic leap.

Better mechanics usually makes a better passer. . .but being a better passer can be a result of any number of things.

Lots of guys with shitty mechanics are great passers.

At the Elite 11, Lee impressed each workout and has a very nice upside to him. The signal caller came out firing the first day showing off a strong, accurate arm and the quickest release in the event. In fact, Lee was voted by the college counselors as having the "Quickest Release" in the camp. He has also quick feet, gets good depth on his drops and has plus arm strength. He has the kind of frame that will have no problems holding up to getting hit in college and in about three years, we could see Lee at around 6-3, 230 pounds. The athlete is very coachable and made nice strides during the chalk talks. He’s a cerebral, almost serious kid but has a strong personality and is a natural born leader and a good fit at LSU." by Greg Biggins handles player personnel for the prestigious NIKE Football Training Camps

Detillier's quotes came directly from the coaches there.

He became a pariah on the Scout board that day. . .and he had nothing against Lee. He had nothing to gain by lying about Lee.

I'm inclined to buy it. . .especially knowing what we know now.

I got raped on this board when I relayed the report here.

Interesting thread to see everyone's opinion. People have mentioned releases, arm strength, nerves etc., but both these guys have struggled with the speed of the game and this is why they're considred poor decision makers. You can't speed up the game for them (going to the NFL) and expect them to develop. LSU just needs them to manage the offense and minimize turnovers. That's not happening in the NFL....neither are NFL material.

Looking back many scouts said he had enough mobility to escape the pocket and he ran a 4.68 40 time....
So I blame Crowton

Jarrett Lee

Brenham (Texas)
Attended the NIKE Camp and Elite 11 camps in College Station but it was at the Las Vegas Elite 11 camp in June where he really shined. In what was a very strong crop of signal callers, Lee was the best of the best that day and was invited to the final Elite 11 camp on the spot. Lee is super-efficient passer with a good arm and great understanding of the position. Had a terrific junior season in '05 at Brenham after moving from Brownwood, earning all-area and all-state honors and leading the Cubs to a 14-1 record and a state semifinals appearance. Has a very quick release, a live arm and a great quarterback body that will be able to stand up to the pounding all signal callers take in college.

Lee is one of the best looking QB's when you watch him in drills that you will ever see. Quick release, looks smooth, but put him in live action and it's a whole nother story. Like someone said, it's just the speed of the game. He just couldn't adapt to it. Neither could Jefferson, but at least his mobility gives him more options and at times it seems like he is coming around up to the speed of the game. If Lee can't handle the speed of the game on the college level (though it is the SEC) how in the hell is he going to handle the speed of the game on the NFL level. No chance
