Where to start:

- Allowed to take a full leave of absence the entire spring and most of summer
- Missed the first few games because he wasnt even close to in shape from a surgery back in June and gained a ton of bad weight
- Once he even started playing, was very ineffective the first month or so (Again, out of shape)...but basically got handed his starting job back
- Once he got back into shape, had like 3 good games then quit after he got banged up a little with the finger and knee...could have played in bowl game but decided not to

cant say I agree with this all being a "stunt". The leave of absence, yea.

he had surgery. He put on weight, which everyone thought he needed to do. It didn't work out well. People thought because he wasn't getting sacks, his effort was bad. I never saw it that way. He lost like 30lbs in season last year trying to get back into shape. He had like 4.5 sacks in 6 SEC games. He was hardly some bum.

So after a year he clearly didn't get to do much or put forth much effort, he declared anyways and went way lower in the draft than had he had a similar season to his sophomore year.

he went low cause he had an all time BAD combine testing. And i say low, 3rd Rd isnt bad for someone that tested that bad

for no one really knowing the whole story, people sure are quick to pull some stunt card. It's dumb

Sorry for hijack, but did y’all see the video in there where their center slapped around some dude in New York and threw him in a fountain. Yes, picked him up & threw the dude in a fountain. He was inNY for player meetings

Weird thread for this but I read that was all a set-up (i.e. not an actual fight). WWE or some shite.

Saints should’ve taken him at 27 & saved their 1st for next year.

And I don’t wanna hear none of that “he’s a beast, we always knew it” shite because that was not the energy on this miserable board around draft time.

Again, I appreciate what he did, but the way last year went down for him was not pretty whatsoever. There's no sugarcoating it.

I agree. I don't mind if I player wants to sit out a year to protect himself from injury before going pro, but quit the team if you are gonna do that so we can get a scholarship back and not have to rely on a half arse effort from a player who is worried about getting hurt.

Go %100 or go home.

Questionable injuries to say the least, it was very apparent the dude just checked out all last year. I appreciate what Arden did for us before last year, but he really did hurt the team (and himself) with the stunt he pulled last year.

Which raises a lot of character issues. Hopefully he has grown up and has quit acting selfish.

The best thing for his career was him not being drafted high and getting a decent contract. He’s hungry now.

I'll give you two without even thinking about it: Harvey Williams and Wendell Davis

WTF did Wendell Davis ever do other than be an All-American and SEC Player of the Year in his final season. LSU got their arse kicked by Bama to cost us the SEC title, but he had over 100 yards in that game. Hardly checking out. LSU won the next three games before he declared for the NFL. In his final game in a Tiger uniform, Davis caught 9 balls for 132 yards and THREE touchdowns.

You get Wendell Davis' name out of your mouth. He was awesome and a true bleed purple and gold Tiger. Know something before you talk shite about one of the all-time greats.

(Harvey Williams blew out his knee, missed a full year, and came back to rush for just shy of 1000 yards his senior year. He didn't check out either, but that wasn't nearly as piss poor of an example as Davis. He just never was the same player he was as an underclassman)

Why do people act like Key purposely sandbagged the Tigers his junior year? If he has an impressive junior year, he’s a top five draft pick. He obviously had some issues he had to work through in the offseason, in addition to surgery. I hope he does well in the pros.

Well, because he did, if you think he didn't, well, I think you're a gullible person and that you'll by anything. Key wasn't hurt like you're thinking, he just got something fixed on him that probably had been needing a fix, but it wasn't no serious career threatening injury or anything. He blew off his jr year thinking that he had done enough in his first 2 seasons at LSU to go high in the NFL draft, and thought wrong, simple as that.

The one glaring player that checked out was Sam Montgomery. He had a great sophomore season, then slept walked through his junior year and never recovered.

Todd Gurley said it best about no regrets hurting his knee his junior year and it has rung true for numerous players. He said something to the effect of, he only knew how to play one way and if he backed off he might not be able to get it back.

Saying Davis and Williams checked out is crazy, Davis had a great season and we had a very good emerging second receiver in Moss that came up big, because so many teams tried to take away Davis. Williams had the misfortune of the team falling apart around him. I only wish he had played as hard in his early years with a talented line as he did with a very poor O line his senior yea
