It was mentioned in an article in the Reveille in 2012 before the highland parking garage opened. Originally there were 3 garages planned; one for the new bookstore, one on the old Tiger Park lot, and one on the old Alex Box lot.
The Alex Box lot became part of the Nicholson Corridor development, however.

I know there's a parking garage planned in the Nicoloson project too. I believe LSU Foundation is starting construction for their hq this spring too
LSU Foundation HQ will be part of Nicholson project? Or located somewhere else?

Nicholson Project. In the office complex with retail below/around. Parking Garage in the back, then replacement of the Married Student Housing with updated facilities for them and additional residential halls on the east side of Nicholson in the grass and parking lots between Nicholson and the natatorium/track.

I figured that was what you were referring to.

I liked what I heard regarding that at the meeting 2 yrs ago. A multi use bldg with shops and restaurants but also function as a tailgate plaza during gamedays.
The mixed use center creates a town center environment that is designed to attract students, sports fans and the surrounding community. Located across the street from Tiger Stadium, it draws from the excitement and identity of LSU’s rich football tradition, and is ideally situated to draw in fans on their way to the stadium. Its location also takes advantage of the drive-by traffic on Nicholson Drive, and is within an easy 10-15 minute walk to most of the core campus. The center will offer an exciting active urban environment with shopping, restaurants and entertainment that complements the traditional campus activities—a place to go for a bite to eat after the game, between classes, or on the way to visit Mike the Tiger.

I'm glad to hear the company that released the PFT renderings didn't win the bid. However, I wasn't completely opposed to it that it had a cutting edge feel to it. The BEC just looks like they cut $10 million of the project, which I think they actually did cut cost wise. I agree with whoever stated earlier that the interior is magnificent, but the exterior leaves a lot to be desired. The rotunda needed some sort of columns or Italian Renaissance feel to it like the rest of our campus. Also, does anyone know of our next major project the school is fundraising for? I haven't seen any new projects released recently... Eta wtf is going on with the landscaping outside the BEC? First they throw an ugly statue out in front, and now it's taken like 5 months for them to adequately plant a bunch of damn plants

LSU needs to figure their shite out regarding the Nicholson Project, because we are already 10 years behind our peers in that department. Also, does LSU not moving the postal office means the Alpha Phi won't be built?

THey had plants in the ground at one point and now they are all gone.
LSU had its own horticulture group with facility services but it got the axe during budget cuts.
I'm not sure if it has to be contracted out or what now.
