Name any building on this campus built in the past 20 years that doesn't look like dogshit

The new chemistry building on highland (IIRC approximately across from the French House) is the only thing that I would even describe as passable.

The Business College bamboo rotunda bullshite is fricking embarrassing. Once you step out of the quad/parade grounds, our campus goes downhill quick. I hate to say it, but Alabama knows how to plan a campus. LSU administrators are predictably incompetent.

I don't see why we should expect the stadium expansion to go any better. Did the upper deck expansion go well? No, it didn't. We just got rid of the infamous PVC pipe.

How can you be so sure that it was ill-planned? Were you present for the meetings? As was stated earlier, you (and all others on this board) have no idea what went into the planning and design of the structure. Cost could be an issue. Weight support and weight distribution could be another. Accomodation of anxillary equipment like plumbing and electrical could be an issue. Constructability could be an issue. You simply don't know. So until you know, you can't say that it was ill planned.

Red brick and painted concrete columns never really went out of style.

I agree somewhat on what you've said. The BEC and the new Patrick Taylor additions will look like Middleton in 20 years. No long term vision on LSU's part

Alabama has done a great job the past 5 years in redoing their campus

PFT photos were just initial renderings. Company that did them did not receive the bid for the renovation

is there any update on that then?

also i do agree that the initial renderings that had the arched windows under the overhang looked better. not really sure why you would go and make it the exact opposite of the north side.

No but they should be out soon. And yea I'm not sure what occurred with the south endzone.

The comforting thing is the stadium looks legit from the inside.

Correct, they only painted it. It's very much still there. I always thought it was going to get a big sign on it "Chicken Memorial PVC Pipe" sort of like the "Moran Family Gate" or whatever name they have over the west entrance gates.

No joke, Bama looks ver similar to every other southern colleg or university. I do like the look though. With that being said the West Uppers looked like dog shite that had been reheated in the microwave, now they just look bad after the renovation. CEBA and the new business school I don't even know where to begin atleast it is on the edge of campus. I like the new chem building and the biology annex.

Of course it's wrong. Look at the state of disrepair.

One of the worst looking buildings I have ever seen anywhere.

Looks like an algae infested fish tank to me.

going to go a bit off subject here, but the picture of the lesser known structure got me thinking about a conversation i had with my dad when i was around 10...(he's presently under hospice and rapidly losing the ability to walk)

anyway, he was drafted in 1944 and i'm pretty sure he never was outside of New Orleans and Jefferson/Plaquemines Parishes before he went into the Army...he took leave in late 1945 and went to Italy with a couple of guys from his unit...he has a couple of pictures of the lesser known structure, and i asked him how big it was...

he shrugged and said that (the 83,000 seat version of) Tulane Stadium was a lot bigger...

I agree but I feel if we keep building these "modern" buildings throughout campus, by 2030 LSU will be a campus full of eyesores

I'm sure these buildings looked awesome in their prime. However, look and them now

Also, I'm sure these building looked awesome in their prime too. Almost a decade later, they still look good

Come on LSU, keep campus tradtional (for the most part). To the LSU department who approves of these modern buildings --> "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
