Geez, so much anger and insecurity. Cajuns are having a good sports year by our standards. Hardly a trend of being better than LSU but a good year so far nonetheless. Sure the Cajuns can have a better year than LSU in basketball and baseball every now and then but it isn't the standard and i don't think it happens year after year. Being a fan of both schools i love seeing both teams in the top 10 in baseball.

Yeah, you mad.

That is how in state rivalries develop. Its never bad for other state universities to excel. A rising tide lifts all ships.

Agreed, but when is ULL going to get its hands out of my wallet and pay for your little school's athletics without my tax money being used?

We are entitled to your tax money, you owe it to us to improve our school

Not for athletics. Use your own damn money for that.

I hope you understand that LSU was only 1 of about 20 universities nationally that are financially self-sufficient athletically.

So that means schools like Louisville and even a few SEC schools take state money to enhance their facilities.

Stop being so greedy.

FWIW, LSU is one of only 7 athletic departments that are entirely self sufficient and receive no state subsidies.

Baseball is second in the state to UL.

Granted, the Cardinals went to the CWS last season. However, that doesn't mean the Wildcats can't accomplish the same this season. An SEC team will be given the benefit of the doubt when its time to hand out bids & seedings for the NCAA tourney.

BTW, why is a message referring to Louisville's baseball team on an LSU message board anyway?!

Single data points in baseball and basketball do not identify a "trend."

Softball I could see as a trend, nothing else though.

You historians can check this out but I think in 2 or 3 of our NC years we lost to USL/ULL in a mid-week game.

I just came back to this thread for the first time in a long time. I live in Scott, just outside of Lafayette, so I have taken to calling the local university UL like most of the locals do. I hold a bachelor, masters, and specialist degrees from LSU. I drive 61 miles to attend LSU baseball and softball games and the only time I miss a home game is when both teams are playing at the same time. I have been attending baseball for 31 years, and have been at about 90% of the softball games since the team was started in 1997.

I have a right to be concerned, and yes UPSET when the teams I support do not play at the level I expect. I put my money where my mouth is in buying tickets and in supporting the TAF.

UL (yes I called them UL again) is playing really well in baseball and softball. The basketball team did not play well in the NCAA tournament so that is over and if their best player goes pro then the worry about their basketball team goes away. They will NEVER play within 35 points of our football team.

Why am I worried? Because if LSU is to maintain flagship status in athletics then we need to dominate in every sport in the State of Louisiana. So stop making fun of the school located 10 minutes from my house and start figuring out why they are slowly sneaking up on us in two sports.
