Pearson's fly ball "drop" at Rice was one of four flyball misplays in that game. I believe they were all caused by the poor lighting on that field, the lights are only 75 feet above the surface.
As for the muffed grounder, I couldn't see the play due to no camera shot of it on the Youtube video. I can only assume it was an error.

Is the thought that he wouldn't have been able to make that same catch if he was playing right and the ball was hit that way?

Bingham's not leaving the lineup and seems comfortable in LF. Its to bad for Pearson because I agree Pearson is likely more comfortable in LF but Binghams got it.
