I don't think our post were in conflict. The 2013 Defense was one of the weakest in terms of personnel. I still think Chavis made some mistakes with personnel in 2013 which could have made that defense better.

This team has personnel. This game was not much different than the West Virginia game in 2011. that team had 6 NFL DB's, 2 first rounders and 1 other Mathieu who would have been a first rounder along with Mo and Reid (Taylor, Brooks and Simon were all drafted) and you had 2 1st rounders on the DL with Mingo and Brockers. WVU with Geno Smith (played in NFL) and Austin the WR and Dana H calling plays scorched that team for 580 yards of offense and 460 passing. LSU just stopped them in the red zone a few times and got some Turnovers.

In modern football with the rules and spread concepts, a good QB and good WR and good play caller will put up points on a team with elite Defensive talent. A team with a great QB, WR and play caller (Texas had them all) if they get in the zone will put lots of points on you if there hot.

The good thing about this team is that it is structurally capable of winning one of these types of games with offense. The way Miles did it in 2011 was just because of exceptional talent on Defense and special teams. LSU has a Kickoff return and Tyron Mathieu had that score on defense.

I really never thought I would see a team score at will on us for an entire half...of course I never thought our offense would be that good either.

The craziest thing to me was gaining confidence in our offense throughout the game. A few times I thought ok we just scored and NOW the defense will step up and the next thing you know Texas is kicking off and I just started thinking frick it let's go get another TD

Mathieu saved our asses vs arky and UGA. Down 2 scores in both with an offense that isn't quick strike. The punt return TDs were huge.

We scored 3 straight drives against Texas in the 4th all under 3 minutes. Ridiculous how efficient the offense is.

I agree with you. This team has way better talent than 2013. And yes, sometimes the other team's QB just catches fire. That guy Sam Ehrlinger was remarkable.
