I agree. And everyone who thinks it is cool is gonna be pissed when it happens after a crucial defensive stop.

Probably. And I bet half the posters here saying they have no problem with it would be up in arms if a player from another school was doing it to LSU.

I, for one, love it.

No doubt. The words 'thug' and 'classless' would get thrown around like confetti.

Really? This is what you got out of it? I just saw a bunch of guys taunting a guy in pre-game practice - unprovoked at that. It wasn't a positive picture by any means. That's my opinion.
I got fired up. Them all standing there gettin in the heads of the receivers. They're first off, together, as a secondary unit. They all got each others back and play mean.
This is what has been missing from our team for quite some time.

I imagine the younger you are the more you approve of trash talking, older posters remember that relic from the past called 'sportsmanship'. Ghetto manners don't make you a better athlete.
You people with weak stomachs for the nastier side of the game need to go down to the sideline of any major college or pro game. You will probably need a translator for the shiite they be talkin. The players know it is part of the game because they have seen it at every significant level. You want to judge Sportmanship? Watch the same people go shake each others hand and acknowledge the people they played after the game... that scene has always bewildered me how they can try to rip each others heads off and two minutes later be laughin and swappin lies together.
By the way Im 52 and it dont bother me. This stuff has been going on since Moby Dick was a minnow. It is only recently that we cover games with 50 cameras now.

doesn't bother me as long as they can back it up

agreed - several of my friends commented on the excessive trash talking. Not needed. It turns off the average fan.

I's a matter of time and when it happens and costs the team, some here will wonder why it happened.

You're 52 and say things like "shite dey be talkin'"?

As requested earlier...age, 55...a "newbie" by post standards, but definitely not in any other respect. It is good to see "swagger" in our defense...and they deserve it. But there has to be a limit. We/they are walking a fine line...and they definitely have a target on their backs. It will definitely cost a penalty probably sooner than later. Having said that, and being "old" and an old school guy, I can do without the trash talk...but they are just kids...lets just hope that Les can reel them in and find a balance between "swagger" and excessive behavior. Geaux Tigers!!!

I agree.
When was the last time you saw anyone get flagged for talking?
Just to be clear, I'm referring to during a drive, not after a score then getting flagged for taunting.

I respect the opinion of those on both sides of this discussion. But I really think there may be a bit of Pleasantville-like nostalgia for the way things never really were.
Heck, I'm over 50 and when I played high school ball in the late 70's there was plenty of trash talking and plenty of taunting. I also remember I loved to watch those old shows where a bunchy of old NFL players from the 50's and 60's used to tell war stories. Now THOSE guys were some mean sons-a-bitches.
I also agree with those who say you'll see plenty of this stuff in your run of the mill high school game. Of course since it's not on National TV with talking heads pointing it out it doesn't get commented on. (Heck, talk to even high school soccer players and you'll hear that most games are pretty much non stop trash talking back and forth.).

I do not have a problem with it as long as the taunters team is still in the game. I hate it when someone makes a huge hit and taunts when they are down by 21 in the fourth.
