how exactly would you do this? rules in cfb are as follows...
quote:

Defensive pass interference is contact beyond the neutral zone by a [defensive] player whose intent to impede an eligible opponent is obvious and could prevent the opponent the opportunity of receiving a catchable forward pass. When in question, a legal forward pass is catchable.

not everyone has the personnel to play zone effectively just like not everyone has the personnel to play man effectively.

spill and kill wont work against bama as we dont set the edge very well this year. IMO we will live and die against bama by how well Stevens plays and how much attention our dline and Klavon draw( goes without saying I know).

Hopefully/probably the coverage disguise is true... I bet it is. Bama plays man under zone deep. They can do this because they get good pressure just rushing four.

Next Bama plays zone until the first break then man after. Again they are as beatable as anyone else by a guy like Burrow if we can protect him

Good content by the guys on this post

I think this is right about what aranda is trying to do. Is it not influenced by us not being able to generate any pass rush as well

It is the height of fantasy to think we are going to get much pressure on Tua.

If LSU plays man only, Bama is going to torch them.

Disagree. We have a secondary that can match up. not saying Jeudy isn't great, he is, but he's not that much better, if at all, against our secondary.
I think Aranda is trying to see what he can have and what he can do, but zone has lead to a LOT of those missed tackles. Play man, keep it in front of you, strip and recover.

I agree, I didn't state that thinking they would. Aranda will have to be very creative in that game.

Question. When you say:

quote:

By pre-determined progression I am referring to they look at routes in a pre-set progression (most do this).

Are you saying that the QB has a first read, second read, third read, etc. regardless of the defense?

Whereas:

quote:

what we are doing now is the order of progression is set by pre-snap reads by Burrow. It necessarily leverages defensive alignment.

Meaning Brady has Burrow going 1,2, 3, 4 v. man, and then 2, 3, 1, 4 v. Cover 2 and then 2, 1, 4, 3 v. Cover 3, etc.?

yep, pretty much what I'm getting at.

It might not be by WR position, it could be by zones (read deep first to short), by order of break regardless of receiver, middle to sideline (or vice versa), etc.

It allows, more accurately- assists, Burrow in moving defenders around. His first look in progression might not be to make a pass but push a LB back, which the next in progression is a receiver coming into that manufactured void.

Alignment. Line up inside of the WR.

that doesnt stop a wr from cutting in. you cant impede a wrs route by running into him.
