Yes....I know it's the spring game, but when you have multiple blown assignments (even though it was 2nd string) it does reflect lack of communication or a lack of players grasping the concepts.

This wouldn't be worrisome if it wasn't Steele's reputation from Clemson and Baylor...but his defenses were known for being confused and blowing assignments due to bad communication or over-complicating things.

I think it was designed to make the offense look better

Backups or not, there were blown assignments. That doesn't really have anything to do with talent.

First string gave up ZERO points until the end when they were playing situational stuff.

The purple team had walk ons playing the majority of the time. We will be fine.

The guy getting burned was a freshman who didn't even get an offer until about two weeks before signing day, who plays one of the deepest positions on the team. He was out there to learn, and he did.

No question it was set up that way to boost the white team offense's confidence.

I have ZERO concerns with the defense, as the one's defense was LEGIT!

The concern was more with the two's/three's/walkons, as there were many blown coverages, and lots of holes. We threw to Dupre in the slot one sequence three times in a row with nobody anywhere near him.

I think just the opposite. I think it gives our offense confidence going into summer workouts and the fall. It's always good to beat someone by a big margin.

Gage got abused by some really good WRs, and he had a walk-on safety over top. Toliver didn't get beat once I don't think and picked off Brandon. 2nd team is fine.

This worries me more than anything. As you said, Steele's rep is that he tries to run an over-the-top complicated system. That's something that is needed when you are over-matched, but it's unnecessary with the talent LSU has.

He got beat by Dural more than once.

Dural is very good. Toliver seemed to pick up his play as the game went on.

Well damn everybody can't have a good game considering the fact we are playing against ourselves. I rather the backups have a bad game when the alternative is for them to shut down our first team offense but that's just me.

Can you read? I didn't mention any players, nor did I even mention the spring game. I expressed general concerns over Steele and his tendency to overcomplicate his defensive schemes and checks.

Oh. Well if it's against Dural that's pretty much expected.

These werent just second strings, most of them were walk ons or players who will probably never see the field. Guys like Lionel Williams and Russle Gage are will probably end up behind guys like Donte Jackson, Tolliver and Lewis on the depth chart
