Nothing from his camp since the draft but he was rumored to be leaning MLB the last couple days.

There's been no official word. However, he was projected to be pick 182 in the 6th round on MLB.com and ended up being pick 249 in the 8th round. It may come down to what he valued himself at before the draft. Pick 182 is valued at $258K and pick 249 is valued at $158.5K so that's almost 100K difference. Take that for whatever it's worth. I guess we'll know soon enough.

Getting coached by a MLB Pitching Coach in Dunn and scholly is worth more than that.

Yes, but how much of of scholarship is he even receiving? Baseball scholarship rules are dumb.

If he bets on himself, which any good pitcher has that mentality, he should come here first. And it is a rare occasion for a baseball player to ever receive over 60% of a total ride in college to the other poster, so I don’t think his scholarship will eclipse that $150k number that was brought up. But he can def improve his stock to a 3rd to 5th round guy by coming here

If they are picked before round 10 it seems to me it's easiest to just assume they are gone and be pleasantly surprised if the come to school.
Too often we get used as a negotiating chip with them showing interest which I don't blame the kids for, or they sign quietly. After the signing deadline it's time to get excited.

I don’t dispute that. I just wish these kids would run the numbers. Your bonus better be good, because your per diem is less than what people make working at a fast food restaurant. You need to set yourself up long term, and $158k to even $200k isn’t enough long term stability. Because after taxes we’re talking $75k-$120k

I have a friend who pitched professionally in the minors for many years, then finally broke through into the majors his last few years. Some observations:
1. He ain't rich, not even close. You don't get rich on a $150k bonus if you get paid breadcrumbs to ride a bus for 5-7 years. And if you do break through late, think about all of those prime earning years you burned that might have come earlier with better development.
2. He didn't make a jump up until the right minor league pitching coach tweaked his mechanics. This was many years in. He said the lower tier guys get no one-on-one development like the high round guys.
