Agree 100%, instead of building off of the base we formed for him in 2022 we tried to recreate it at a different spot and it didn’t work. You supposed to build center to out, we went backwards with him in terms of the usual development path.

Once again, there is game video of him missing tackle after tackle. There is also game video of him trying to rush the passer and getting stonewalled...several times by no more than a RB held in the backfield. We're just wasting time debating...time will tell, and the ones like myself pointing out his flaws will be proven correct. He will be a 3rd day draft pick whenever he goes to the NFL. That is NOT the position of an impact player in college.

Yea that happens to everybody. No pass rusher has ever been unblockable on every play but Perks win rate led the team in both full seasons he played so this idea that he “can’t” beat or shed blockers is false. Hes an OLB or Star, he’s a chase LB. He’s been playing LB positions where he’s taking on more blockers than he should be because that’s not his position. Derrick Brooks and Ray Lewis are both great LBs but they don’t do the same things or play the same positions for a reason.

No, he can't beat or shed blockers. That is exactly why they moved him off the LOS to begin with during the 2023 season.

Well again there’s a ton of video evidence that disproves your statement and he was moved inside not outside to begin 2023 so you’re wrong about that too.

Perk is a great athlete that doesn’t really fit in a cfb defensive scheme. I’m honestly not sure if his return is a good thing or a liability. It’s not like we have a warm up game to test him back out there

I will add I think he would’ve been a better safety than either that was rolled out this year

It was posted during the bowl break last year but not by me. He led the team in sacks despite only rushing on 21.4% of pass attempts. In 2022 he rushed on 31.7% of passing snaps with 41 pressures and a 12.9% win rate. In 2023 he rushed 21.4% of passing snaps with 27 pressures and a 10.9% win rate. His PFF grades in the pass rush were 90.4 in 2022, 3rd highest freshman season in NCAA history, and 72.5 in 2023.

I think with him, LSU finds a way to slow down Marcel Reed and that game would have been close down the stretch.

Alabama would have been closer (maybe 3 scores lol) and maybe his game breaking ability moves the game the other way against UF.

Exactly, Weeks is playing exactly where he should be and Perkins hasn’t since he was a freshman. He’s also playing in a different defense and playing a different position from Perkins. Last year when he was moved inside Perkins was moving all over the place and lining up outside the tackle box way more than Weeks does this season.
perkins has played both inside and outside and started outside for 3 games this season. Go look at his numbers. Weeks is a LB. Perkins is better in pass coverage and not as strong.

It is House’s fault? How about Baker’s? Nope. It is Perkins not being a LB/Hybrid safety.
House is coaching NFL LBs again and I guess Baker is not smart.

Not shedding blockers. He isn’t strong enough to get off of blocks.

I didn’t say he didn’t, I said he’s out of position and Weeks isn’t which is exactly what you’re saying only you’re trying to blame him for it even though we’ve seen the contrast in results when he plays where he’s supposed to. And BTW it’s neither coordinators fault, the move is a HC decision.

And people caught up with him - especially in the SEC where bigger and more athletics TEs and Ts are.

Except again there’s no proof of that. He was moved to a new position and wasn’t being used the same way he was when the impact plays were so common.

WTF man - he is out of position at outside and inside LB which is EXACTLY what I’ve been saying. He is a in the box safety. He is damn sure not a DE. You made a comparison Vonn Miller - they are night and day. Go rewatch the cotton bowl from 2010? Whatever bowl game before TAMU joined the SEC and until he was injured LSU couldn’t pull away. Miller was a 1 man defense and was strong as frick in college.

No I didn’t, that was another poster. I also didn’t say he needed to be edge or DE, dunno where you’re getting that from. Our defense doesn’t have an OLB, both our guys play inside the tackle box almost always. The Star is the closest thing we have to a WSOLB and that’s where he played as a freshman.
